The Zurich atoms lost both their games against Garden City Michigan on the weekend. The game Saturday was a close 1-0 struggle with SPORTS 0 SPOT Garden City scoring the only goal of the game at the 1:22 mark. The goal was by Jamie Henshaw and was assisted by Larry Garry. There were five penalties in the game, two going to Zurich and three to Garden City. The game on Sunday saw another close game with Garden, City coming out on top by a 4-3 score. Scoring for Garden City were Larry Garry. Jamie Henshaw, Charlie McGeorge and Bob Bennetts. Zurich goal - scorers were Tim Westlake, Todd LaPorte and John Parke. The peewee game Saturday 'was a shoot-out, with Zurich winning 7-4. The goal -scorers for Zurich were Jeff Hoffman with three, Paul Bedard with two and Mark LaPorte and Mark Clausis each with singles. Scoring for Garden Zurich Arena_ Public Skating Fri. Garden City led 3-0 in the second period on goals by Priehs, Hickson and Smith, but at the 7:30 mark of the second period, Zurich. started their comeback. Brian Steckle started the Zurich scoring and two minutes later Mark LaPorte scored the first of his three goals. Paul Bedard tied the score at the 13:20 mark. All three goals were unassisted. Mark LaPorte scored his second goal with assists going to Paul Bedard and Aaron Bullock, giving Zurich their first lead. In the third period, Aaron Bullock scored on a pass from Mark Clkusis and Mark Johnson. Mark LaPorte rounded out the scoring on a pass from Aaron Bullock, The Saturday game bet- ween the Garden. City Bantams and Zurich ended 4- 4. Only one goal was scored in the first period, by Mark Boogemans and none in the second. Garden City scored three goals in less than three minutes, from Jim Finetti, Bret Melnick and Chris Monaster. Zurich closed the gap on a goal by , Dean Armstrong, but Garden City made it 4-2 on a goal by Jerry Durkin. Zurich managed a tie on two goals in the final three minutes, the last one with nine seconds left. Dean Armstrong got his second goal of the night and the City tying goal was Mark Boogeman's second. Sunday, The Zurich bantams shut the Garden City Team out by a 2-0 score. The goals were scored by. Bryan Kading and Dean Armstrong. Bantams win The Zurich bantams beat Hensall on Wednesday 5-3. Bryan Kading led the Zurich attack with two goals and one assist. Dean Arm- strong, - Darcy Martin and Kevin Lavery were the other Zurich scorers. Darren Moir, Todd Caldwell and Ian Munroe scored for Hensall. There were seven penalties, three to Zurich and four to Hensall. The playoffs Monday night's first playoff game saw Zurich bantams lose to Blyth 4-3. Exhibition hockey On Saturday, the novice team lost to Clinton by an 8-1 score and the Atom B team lost to Seaforth 5-1. Bantam tourney The Zurich Bantams beat the Howick 7ups on Thur- sday, 5-1. Howick scored the first goal off the stick of Kevin Puttan. The Zurich scorers. were Dean Arm- strong with three and Dereck McKinnon with two. Bryan Kading had four assists. Friday, Zurich played Thedford in the Clinton tournament and lost a close 6-5 decision. The Thedford team was behind Zurich 2-0 after the first period. Shirley Mousseau with her team of Julie Rattray, Liz Bell and Helen Brown were high winners.
