Bantams take two games

won three games in games
played over the weekend in
the U.S.city.
Pioking up three out of
four points were 'the .squirts
who won Saturday 3-2 and
tied 1-1 on Sunday.
Scoring the first goal of the
game in the first period was
Zurich's Randy Hoffman but
a goal by Larry Garry of
Garden City tied the game.
In the second period the
miters jumped ahead 3-1 on
goals by John Parkes and
Mike Cyr.
Picking up the lone goal of
the final frame was Garden
City's Jamie Hanshaw.
Sunday's game was a real
dog fight with both teams
having _numerous chances.
Tim Westlake had the. only
-Zurich goal on a unassisted
effort while Jamie Hanshaw
r tied the game in the third
period on a breakaway.
The Zurich Peewees found
the going'a little bit toufgher -
as they dropped both games
by scores of 5-2 Saturday and
4-2 Sunday.
Saturday's contest, saw
Garden City jump out to a 3-0
lead on the strength of goals
• by Eric Hirzel, Pat Shannon
and Al Smith in the first
period.
Paul Bedard. and Aaron
Bullock . combined for the
only score of the middle
frame which put Zurich back
into the game.
The brother combination
of Pat and Bob Shannon
picked up the fourth and fifth
Garden City goals of the
game. Replying for Zurich
late in, the -period was Jeff
Hoffman.
Paul Bedard had two goals
for Zurich in Sunday's
contest at _he scored in ,the
second and third periods
with help from Aaron
Bullock.
Eric Hirtzel had.two goals
for Zurich in the second
period.
It appeared that the
contest would end up as a 2-2
tie but Garden City scored
two goals in the final minute
of play to take the victory.
The Bantams proved to
have the most success of the
Zurich teams as they
defeated Garden City's
number team by scores of 6-
- Saturday and 5-1 Sunday.
In both games Zurich
pulled away 'from their
opposition in the second and
third periods.
Saturday Garden 'City hit
the scoresfeet first on an
effort by Tim Walsh but the
Bantams replied with two
goals by Mark Boogemans
and Bob Snell.
Tying the game up foi-
Garden City was Jerry
Durkin but the villagers
scored four times to secure
the victory.
Scoring for Zurich were
Brian Kading from Mark
Boogemans, Dean Arm-
strong • from Derek
McKinnon, Darcy Martin
from Gerry Smith and Derek
McKinnon from Dean
Armstrong.
Counting for Zurich in the
Sunday gaane were three
goals by Brian Kading and
singles by Tim Teeter and
Dean Armstrong.
Tim Finett had the lone
Garden City goal. •
Midgets lose close game
The Zurich Midgets fell
two goals short of .a victory
Monday as they were edged
by Seaforth 7-6 m Zurich.
Scoring for Zurich in the
see -saw affair were Randy
Parker with two goals and
singles coming from the
sticks of Jamie McClinchey,
David Smith, Paul Johnston
and Scott Jesney.
Bucks win, tie
-The Zurich Buckeyes had a
very successful three games
with wins over Hensall and
Exeter and a tie with Cen-
tralia.
The Bucks next game is
Sunday afternoon with the
Centralia . Marauders sup-
plying the opposition. On
December 28 the Bucks
'travel to Forest.
Sunday Zurich came back
from a three goal deficit to
take an exciting 5-4 win.
Scoring for Hensall were
Jamie Caldwell, Allan
Taylor and Lloyd Allan.
Picking up the assists were
Steve Knight, Jim Ferguson,
Gary Kyle and Dave Kin-
sman.
Zurich Began their
comeback in `the second
period on an unassisted goal
but the Sherwogds came
right . back with Kinsman
scoring from 'Ferguson.
The Bucks* secured the
victory on goals by Pat
Bedard, Kim McKinnon,
Murray and Gerald Weido.
Named Buckeye -player of
the month was injured
defenceman Mike Clarke
who received a cheque for
$25 from Laportes Meat
Market. He leads the
Buckeyes in scoring with
nine goals and ten assists.
Clarke who broke his thumb
will be lost to the club for six
weeks.
Clarke is also tied for
second in penalty minutes
with Kerry Bedard. Both
players have spent • 34
minutes in the sin -bin.
Leading the penalty parade
is Kim McKinnbn with 40
minutes.
Tops among the Buckeyes'
regular goalies is Jurgen
Hellman with a 4.02 average
in four games while\ Randy
Oke has a 4.05 average in his
six games. Randy Lovie who
has played one game has
allowed only two goals.
Close game
Friday's contest between
the Marauders and the
Zurich Buckeyes was' close
ads .s
from start to finish with only
one goal separating the two
clubs it any time.
'Randy McKinnon of the
Buckeyes opened the game
scoring at -?:31 of the opening
period on ,a pass from Greg
Kirk and four minutes later
the score was tied as Pete
Wuerth hit for Centralia on a
three-way combination with
Perry Knee • and ._Rick
Funston. ,•
The Marauders outscored
the Buckeyes two goals to
one in the middle session.
Captain -Pete Glover fired
the firstsuccessful shot on
passes from Blair.Hearn and
Mark Cronyn at the ; 28
second mar and Randy
Somerville stored on a solo
dash near the .end of _the
period.

contest, the Zurich Buckeyes
scored four straight goals
before the Mohawks hit the
scoreboard and Sunday
Forest ended the game with
five consecutive scores to
win the game.
The • Buckeyes took a 2-0
lead in the first period on
goals by Jim Murray and
captain John Graham with
assists going to Randy
McKinnon and Ron Rader.
The only goal of the middle
frame was fired by ,Jeff
O'Brien of the Buckeyes on a
three-way effort with Ron
Rader and Greg Kirk.

Randy McKinnon hit the
