Carroll.
A sing song of Christmas
carols was held. Euchre was

business session.; It was
decided to put Christmas
greetingsin the Exeter
paper. The crewel em-
broidery course will be held
in January. New. song sheets
are to be ordered.
Ladies invite men
Ladies' Aid was held at the
community centre Sunday,
opening with a pot luck
supper for husbands or
friends with group three and
Mrs. Shirley Van Dor-
sselaer, convener, in charge.
Pastor and Mrs. Mellecke
were presented gifts.
Mrs. Chas. Martene,
. president, conducted the
business. Dues were paid,
yearly reports were given by
secretaries and conveners of
groups. A new secretary,
Mrs. Lorne Becker, was
appointed. A collection was
taken for the Lutheran
-Hour,. The altar guild
reported 19 visits and three
flowers sent. The new guild
'is Mrs. Ernest Koehler and
Mrs. Lorne Genttner. Shut-in
boxes will be packed Sunday,
December 21. Six cards were
sent out.

spent the previous Monday
in Dearborn, Michigan
visiting a sister, Gertude
Flegman who recently fell
and fractured her hip, and
has returned home from the
hospital.

recently moved • into the
former home of Mrs.
Beatrice Geiger on Goshen
St. south.

new Floral and Gift Shop on
Victoria St.
Congratulations to John
and Bern Denomme who
celebrated their 40th wed-
ding anniversary a week ago
Sunday with a surprise fami-
ly dinner followed, by!a get-
together at their cottage.
The original attendants were
also present being, Anthony
and Adeline Denomme.
Mrs. Norma Siebert spent
a few days this past week at
the home of her daughter
and son-in-law, Paula and
Gordon Lobb near Clinton
and helping out with her new
little granddaughter who
was born on November 29th.
Best wishes for a speedy
recovery are extended ' to
Richard Ayotte who is a
patient in Victoria Hospital.
A good time was had by all
those who went on the bus
trip to Simcoe on Saturday
to see their display d Christ-
mas lights and decorations
and enjoyed ;going, shopping
and out for cliiiner.

the completion of the church,
building.

University hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin
Restemeyer attended the
funeral ,of the latter's sister,
(Greta) husband Jack Kerr

Most places and people
are busy with their Christ-
mas festivities as we have
been here, even though the
weather is quite unseasonal
with so much rain and fog.
Monday evening films
were shown and we are still
hoping there might be
someone wh can help us
find a way to transport the
films back to Goderich o,r
either Tuesdays or
Wednesdays.
The Ladies Auxiliary "held
their Christmas party for
the residents on Tuesday
evening. A short programme
was presented but due to the
very stormy night, a number
of children who were to take
part were unable to get here.
However, Christmas gifts
were distributed and
refreshments served.
We are grateful to Mrs.
John Stewart of Exeter who
is so faithful in bringing in
materials to work with in the
hobby shop and also the
ladies of Mount Carmel
Catholic Women's League
for their lovely Christmas
plant. Mass was celebrated
in the chapel on Thursday
afternoon at 4:00 p.m. by
Father Mooney of St.
Boniface Church; Zuric'h.
Mass is scheduled for the
first Thursday of every
month at 4:00 p.m. in the
chapel here unless it has to
be cancelled because of un-
foreseen circumstances.
On Friday evening, the an-
nual Christmas party for the
residents and their family
and friends was held with a

the entertainment for the
evening were Miss Betty
deer who sang and accom-
panied herself on the guitar,
Miss Diane Verlinde who
played the violin " accom-
panied by Mrs. Jou on the
piano.
The draw for the afghan
and matching pillow were
won by Mrs. Maxine Peters
of Zurich and the stuffed dog
was won by Mr. Leonard
Debus of Maplewoods
Apartments.
We welcome Mr.- and Mrs.
C.L. Alexander, formerly of
Grand Bend who have taken
up residence in the new Blue
Water Rest Home
Apartments.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Jack
Dressler of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, ZuriCh.
Mr. Paul Klopp presided at
the organ.
Cites need
for Catholic
high school
Ronald M. Murray, RR 2
Dublin, was acclaimed 1980
chairman of the Huron Perth •
Catholic school board at the
inaugural meeting Monday
in Dublin.
The 43 -year-old McKillop
Township farmer, who was
vice - chairman last year,
succeeded .Ronald Marcy
of Stratford.
Vincent Young of Goderich
was elected vice chairman.
The 52 year old department
manager at Champion Road
Machinery of Goderich, won
over John O'Leary of RR 2
Staffs in a second ballot as
there was a tie in the first
ballot.
Rev. A.F. Loebach of
Goderich , Dean of the
Stratford Deanery, spoke
briefly. He said catholic high
schools have economic
difficulties with government
grants only covering Grades
9 and 10. He wondered if a
Catholic high school could be
established in the Huron -
Perth district' in .a more
populated area as a start to
getting Catholic education
for secondary students. He
said this was being started in
Woodstock.
The firm of Donnolly and
Murphy of Goderich was
appointed solicitor for the
board.
