Need bicycle wheel
Last week, following -the
snowstorm, one or members
of the younger. set (their-
footprints were smallish),
took it upon themselves to
remove a bicycle from a
residence on Louisa Street.
After dragging- it into the
yard behind, the back wheel
was pried off and then
carried away. The owner-.

On' October 10, Michele Robinson and Steve Haberer were
united in marriage . at Woodham United Church with Rev.
Comillia la Rouche and Rev. Jack Dressler offidating. The
bride is the daughter of Mrs. June Robinson, Kirkton and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haberer, Zurich. Maid
of honour was Mrs. Bruce Hodge. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Gary Eagleson, Mrs. Cheryl Henderson -Barnes and Robin
Lambert. Best man was Gary Eagleson. Guests were ushered
by John Cliarette, Kevin Wareing and Paul Robinson. The

Vicki Baker and Lionel Wilder Jr. were united in marriage
December 6 at St. Bonitace-Roman Catholic Church, Zurich.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs., Murray Baker of RR
2 Hensall and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lionel
Wilder of Rif 1, Zurich. The maid of honour was Tammy Pres:,
cator, cousin of the bride and bridesmaids were Laura Wilder,
Nina Knee and Valerie Baker. The best man was Gory Love
and guests were ushered by Brian Baker and Ervine ,Willert.

Wilder. Following a weddingtrip o the north-eastern United
Stcitei the couple took up residence at RR 1, Zurich.

Beavers hold ceremony
On Saturday, the first
Bayfield Beaver Colony held
__. their Investitures of t .new
Beavers. The new members
of . the -colony were Jerry
Alexander, Adam Durran,
Wayne McDougall, Mgon
Wallis, Brian McLeod, Mark
Shilbe, Glen Westlake and
Craig McCash.
The Beaver leaders would
like to thank the parents that
attended the investiture and
the one who , brought the
cookies for the party which
followed. • .
The Beaver leaders (all
three of- them), would also
like to wish the Beavers of
the first Bayfield Colony and
their parents, a Mery
Christmas and a Happy New
Year.
Bad roads -
You no doubt noticed the
terrible condition the high-
- way from. Bayfield to
Goderich was in following
the storm last Tuesday.
Even Ffiriday there was still
slush on parts of the road.
We understand that the
Ministry of —Transport and
Communications no longer
supplies the snow plow crews
and in fact the job of plowing
has been sublet to private
individuals.
Mixed curling results
The Bayfield Mixed
• Curling Ieague played their
sixth�wmaww�
round of regular season
games last Sunday night at
the local arena.
It was a night featuring the
battle of the undefeated
rinks and a night that see.,
the remainder of the rinks
bunch closer together , in-
dicating the equality of the
_ competition among the club.
In the early draw at 7 p.m.
the . "_"Scotty" McVean Rink
(24) slipped past the Alice
Brandon- Foursome (3-3),
outpointing them 161/4 to 43/4.
On the south surface, Joe
Brandon (24) improved his
record with a win over Joe
itoene (3-3). The ice at
_centre featured the battle of
the Telford brothers as Roy's
Rink (24) 'scored 163/4 points
against 'Gerorge's (3-3) 61/4
Thepoine highlite of the late
draw at 9 p.m. was the battle
Of ,the only two undefeated
rinks and: when it was over.
Morris:Sauve (6-0) extended
his streak and Matty Francis
`(5-1) swot down to an 18-3
defeat. Jerry Uniac (3-3)
jumped on Don Lindsay,)3-3)
6y a 17% to 41/4 score and
Bill Talbot (3-3) knocked off
J3ob Orr (2-4) in the other two
contests.
After six weeks of play the
Morris Sauve Rink now leads
-the standings, with 104%
points, followed by Matty
Francis with 921/4 and Bill
Talbot with 64. •
Mens curling results
The newly formed
Bayfield Mens Curling
League was into its third
week of play on Monday
night with the single draw
going at 7 p.m. at the local
arena.

theme for WI
• A Qhristmas Party was the
theme for the Monday
meeting of the Zurich
Women's Institute, held in
the Hay Township Hall,
which was tastefully
decorated for the occasion,
by membersoftihe'committee
in charge namely, Mrs. V.
Fisher, Mrs. L. Erb, Mrs. N.
Koehler and Mrs. V. Dinnin.
They provided a very-
seasonable
eryseasonable program, which
opened with singing the
Institute Ode and repeating
the Mary Steward Collect.
Mrs. V. Fisher was
chairlady_
Several carols were sung
by members and their
guests, with Mrs. G.
Fleishauer as pianist.
Mrs. Fisher presented a
Wilily reading "Haw Mother
Nature trimmed her!
Christmas Tree".
The group was pleased to
have two young people en
tertaining -Colleen Regier at.
the piano, and Robert
Hoffman with his accordian.
There was a gift exchange.
Mrs. G. Fleischauer was
• the lucky winnerof a cushion.
A Christmas lunch was
served by Group three. The
president "'Mrs. H. Rohner
chaired the business
meeting.
The Institute will again
sponsor card parties this
winter season. Birthdays of
three members were
acknowledged by the
traditional happy 'birthday
song.

Mr. Bernard Sturgeon,
Orangeville, was a guest
with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Sturgeon on

with other family members
in the village.

their Keith Crescent horse a
week ago after an extended
fall vacation at their Florida
residence.

favorite `River Mouse', Mr.
Roy- Telford, is currently

beach at Waikiki, Hawaii,
chasing native girls in grass
skirts, learning the - hila
and eating a lot of pineap ice.
