Whilsmith, Toronto, director of overseas development for Christian Children's Fund of Canada, will be the guest speaker at Dashwood and Zurich United Churches, Sunday morning, (December 7). Mr. Whilsmith co-founded Christian Children's Fund of Canada in 1960 and has served as director, president and chairman of the board. From 1973 until 1960 he acted as national director. To meet the requirements of an ex- ploding expansion in Canada and abroad, he was ap- pointed director of overseas development in October of this year. Mr. Whilsmith, who has just returned form Guatamala, travels to dozens of countries, yearly, to assess needs and arrange for assistance. Sometimes, he says circumstances are "most appalling" and he is often "shattered" what he sees. However, he remains optimistic and is "thrilled" by the response of Canadians, over 25,000 of whom support needy children. As part of the world-wide organization, which assists 220,000 children and their families in the third world, C.C.F. of Canada plays an important role in world relief. By donating $15 a month, a Canadian family or group can provide direct assistance for a child who would other wise face dismal odds on getting an education, food, clothing and shelter. In the morning services, Mr. Whilsmith will speak on "Spiritual Alternatives for a World in Turmoil". In the evening, an informal ecumenical service will be held at the Zurich United Church at which the Menonnite and Lutheran congregations will also take part. At it Mr. Whilsmith will show films from some of the countries where the development work of Christian Children's Fund of Canada is taking place. r Pop2z. bottles plus tax & dep. $5.00 12 x 24 oz. bottles',plus tax & dep. 4.3O Boneless Blade or Short Rib Boneless Cross Rib Steaks Centre cut Pork Chops Frozen Spareribs Fresh Beef Liver Fully processed front of Beef Fully processed loin of Pork Ib.
