Two Dashwood anniversaries celebrated
Mr. and Mrs. Eben
Weigand celebrated their
40th wedding anniversary at
the home of Don and Jean
Weigand on Sunday,
Dashwood
Mrs. Irvin Rader
November 16
house.
They were married
November 16, 1940 at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Martene in
Stephen Township. They
farmed on the 14th con-
cession of Hay Township for
35 years and are now'retired
in Dashwood.
They ' have two sons,
with
an
open
Donald and James both of
Hay Township and a
daughter, Norma of Exeter,
four granchildren, Danny,
Chris, Jennifer and Amanda.
Many relatives, friends
and neighbours attended
from Chesley, Markham,
Port Colborne, Lyndon,
Elmira and surrounding
area.
Discuss concert
The youth of Zion Lutheran
church met Sunday,
November 16 in the United
church basement. The
Johnson Olsen concert
planned for December 4 was
discussed. Duty calendars
for the month of December
were filled in.

Gumdrop Cookies
1 c. shortening ,
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1 c. coconut
1 c. gumdrops
2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugars. Blend well. Blend
beaten eggs and mix in well. Add dry ingredients and
vanilla. Add coconut, gumdrops and oatmeal. Form
into small balls and place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 deg. F. 10-20 min. (or until brown).

Tweedsmuir history
on microfilm
I was informed last week
by the Regional Library in
London that the recently
microfilmed Dashwood
Women's Institute Tweed-
smuir history can be seen at
Exeter Public Library on the
reader. Other places with a
reader can request their
Librarian to ask for a film
from the Regional Library.
This film has to be returned
after 2-3 weeks.
Personals
Lorne and Madeline Ziler's
25th wedding anniversary
was celebrated last Saturday
evening. Manyrelatives and
friends attended. The happy
couple thank all who at-
tended and for gifts
received; especially Sue and
Bonnie.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader
and Sharon Bennett were
Wednesday afternoon
visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Miller, Zion.
Mrs. Vernon Schatz is a
patient in South Huron
hosptial, Exeter, due to a
fall in her home. Adolph
Keller is also a patient.
Twenty-six people from
Dashwood enjoyed a one day
bus trip to West Lorne,
Swain's Greenhouses,
Minister sick, lay

Church services on Sunday
were led by Joyce Dowson'in
Varna and Marjorie Hayter
in Goshen, as Rev. Wilena
Brown was confined to her
home because of illness. Lori
Consitt assisted Joyce in a
Varna

stood up for Jesus. Many old
and well -loved hymns, most
of which are not in our hymn
book, were interspersed
throughout the service.
Next Sunday, members
will be asked to vote on
changing the time of the
service to 10:00 o'clock. This
would give the minister
more tiine to speak with
everyone before leaving for
Goshen.

producers on Thursday
evening. The dinner was held
in the Sunday school room at
the church. At the meeting
which followed in the
township hall, there were
speakers from Shur -Gain
and Elanco Drug Co. One
man told of practises carried
out at the Shur -Gain
Research Farm; another,
the head Shur -Gain
nutritionist for Ontario,
spoke on nutrition; another
on animal health products;
and the drug company
representative explained the
benefits of a growth
promotion product for swine.

Mr. and Mrs. Murdock
Morrison have a new
grandson, born to Paul and
Judy last Thursday --- a little
brother for Jennifer.
Lynda Postill returned
home from hospital on
Tuesday of last week and is
feeling much better.
Brian McAsh - had good
luck on a hunting trip in
Michigan, returning with a
nice young buck.
A reception and tea will be
held in Varna Sunday School
room on Saturday at 2:30 for
bride -elect Margaret
Aldington. Everyone who
wishes to have a visit with
her is cordially, invited.
Kingsville where they saw
the geese; other greenhouses
and home.
Sharon Bennett returned
to Thunder Bay Sunday after
spending a week with her
parents and other relatives.
Mrs. and Mrs. George
Tieman, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Schroeder, Mr. and
Mrs. Ken Rader and Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Rader attended
the Hay Township em-
ployee's night with dinner
and dancing at the Pineridge
Chalet Saturday night.
Mrs. Frieda Keller and
Alphonse (Whitey) Denomme
are patients in University
Hospital, London.
