Resort rec committee member resigns
The Bayfield Recreation
Committee met at the
Municipal Building on
Thursday. The meeting was
called to finalize plans for
the second annual Las Vegas
Night. which has been set for
January 24, 1'.:1.

committee after the resigna-
tion of Judy Gilpin who felt
she could no longer afford
the time necessary for .her
position.
The next meeting of the
Recreation Committee will
be held on Thursday,
.December 11 at the
Municipal Building. Those
that missed the 'November
meeting should make a note
and plan to attend.
At the arena
The Bayfield Mixed Curl-
ing Club held their third
week of regular season play
at the arena on Sunday night
with all 12 rinks in action.
In the early draw, the Bill
Talbot rink defeated the
Alice Brandon Rink; the
Matty Francis -Rink
defeated the Don Lindsay
Rink and the Joe Koene Rink
defeated the Roy Telford
Rink.
In the late draw; the Joe
Brandon Rink were winners
over the George Telford
Rink while the Scotty
McVean Rink downed the
Bob Orr Rink and the Morris
Sauve Rink (with Bill
Mcllwain as skip) downed
the Gerry Uniac Rink.
After three weeks of play,
the Matty Francis foursome
lead the standings with 53/
points. followed closely by
Morris Sauve with 531/4 and
Don Lindsay with 39.
Last Saturday night the
sharpshooters of the Lam-
poon Hockey League battled
it out at the arena. The Old-
timers were led. by Stormin'
Normin' who banged in
seven goals on the way to a
16 to 6 rout of the Rink Mice.
For the second week in a
row Larouche 'scored the
winning goal as he decked
Mouse goaltender Greg
'possum' Neilson on a
breakaway. Brownie Barb,
the 'possum' and the kid all
had a pair of goals for the
Rink Mice in a losing cause.
Star forward Larouche
received a shoulder injury
late in the contest and will
miss the next outing of the
Oldtimers who lead the stan-
dings with 2 wins and no
losses.
Euchre dub
The Bayfield Euchre Club
met at the. Municipal.
Building on Wednesday and
a good turnout provided 9

Although the
temperatures are dropping,
it is nice to have the ground
still bare.
Monday evening films
were shown followed by
refreshments.
On Wednesday afternoon,
, the children of St. Boniface
junior grades visited the
Home and sang several
numbers for the residents,
also gave each one cards
that they had personally
made.
Miss Marie Gelinas was
celebrating her 103rd birth-
day on Wednesday and a
cake was brought by the
teachers and students of the
school so children and
residents enjoyed the birth-
day cake.
On Wednesday evening,
the Ladies of Crediton
Women's Institute spon-
sored the monthly birthday
party. A lively programme
of violin, piano and guitar
music was enjoyed.

residents celebrating
birthdays and a delicious
lunch was served.
On Friday evening bingo
was played followed by
refreshments. The annual
bazaar and bake sale was
held on Saturday afternoon
and according to all reports
was a very successful one:
The lucky winner of the
draws were, Mrs. Anne Flax -
bard the crocheted pillow
and Mr. Tiny Thiel, the
beautifully decorated cake.
On Sunday evening, the
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Grant Mills
of Exeter United Church.
Mrs. Margaret Coates
presided at the organ during
the service.

Babes banquet
The Bayfield Babes held
their. annual banquet at the
Albion Hotel on Friday
night. Players, friends, fans
and sponsors all attended the
gala event. As well
celebrating being crowned
champions of the Bluewater
Ladies Slo-Pitch League
(the best' womens slo-pitch
league in the County), the
players were on hand to
receive 'their individual
awards.
Following dinner, co -
captains Joyce McIlwain
and Nora West spoke an
behalf of the team to all pre-
sent. The highlite of the
evening was Nora West's
recital of 'Tomas the Night
Before Practice'. Coaches
Bud Sturgeon and Tim West
were given appropriate
tokens of appreciation from
the girls, including 'whips'
to get them going early next
year.
All the girls were
presented with silver cups
and arm patches for their
jackets signifying them as
the 1980 champs. •

The team wishes to thank
their sponsors, the Albion,
Hotel for seeing them
through another successful
season and all.their fans for
supporting them in 1980. A
new season will be starting
in about 20 weeks so we'll
see everyone back at the" dia-
mond.
Round and about
the village
The Grant family from
Kitchener were at their cot-
tage over the weekend.
Greg and EmMily Neilsen
were at their Sunset Lane
Cottage for several days,
working like slaves and get-
ting the insulation in place
for their winter holidays
here.
Gary and Edna* Hulley,
Paris, inhabited the Sand-
castle on Howard Street
over the weekend.
For the second Friday in a
row, the Bayfield Fire
Department responded to an
alarm. This week a truck
loaded with wood burst into
flames on Highway 21 op-
posite Deer Lodge Park and
the local department went

Whole Wheat Popovers
Extra popovers may be frozen. Reheat frozen
popovers by placing uncovered on baking sheet in 350
deg. about 15 min.
3 eggs
1c.milk
3 tbap. oil
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. all purpose flour
V tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 325 deg. F.
Beat eggs till frothy then beat in milk and oil. Add
flours and salt beating till smooth. Pour batter into 12
well greased muffin cups, filling each 3 full. Bake
about 35 min. or till puffed and brown. Serve at once
with butter and jam or honey.
