Receives B.A.
A Zurich area lady was one
of six students who obtained
their BA from the University
of Western Ontario through
courses offered at Western's
extension centre in Clinton.
Marguerite Elizabeth
MacGee, wife of Rick McGee
of RR 2, Zurich received her
BA at fall covocation
exercises held at the main
cnpus • of UWO in
London recently.
Commenting on .the part-
time student graduates Dean
Thomas N. Guinsburg, Dean
of the Faculty of Part -Time
and Continuing Education,
noted "Their achievement is
both a personal triumph and
inspiration to the host of
adults who have only
recently decided to embark
on part-time university
careers. Western, having
offered off -campus courses
for more than a half century,
cannot help sharing the pride
of these students' families
and friends."

Buckeyes defeated in two starts
The Zurich Buckeyes con-
tinue to find the early going
in the South Huron Hockey
League on the" rough side as
they dropped a pair of games
this week.
On Thursday the Centralia
Marauders topped the
Buckeyes while on Sunday in
8-2 over the defending cham-
pion Zurich BuckeYes.
In Thursday's win over
Zurich, the Marauders took
a 3-1 lead after the first 20
minutes of play and were
never headed.

Middlesex Merchants
defeated an undermanned
Zurich squad 3-0.
The Buckeyes went into
the game with only 11
forwards and defencemen
and it proved to be their
downfall throughout the
course of the game.
North Middlesex scored
the only two goals of the first
period and scored the final
goal of the game midway
through the second frame.
Zurich has a busy schedule
in the next week as they take
on the Hensall Sherwoods
Thursday in Hensall, host
North Middlesex Sunday in
Zurich and take on CCAT
Tuesday in Zurich.
The Centralia Marauders
won their first game of the
young South Huron in-
termediate hockey season
Thursday night by a score of
Funston put Centralia In
front on a three-way passing
combination with Rob
Funston and Dick Lord.
Ron Rader knotted the
count for the Buckeyes on a
pass from Mike Clarke at
8:28. .
Before the first period
ended, Rick Funston and
Randy Somerville counted
for the Marauders with
assists going to Pete Glover,
Perry Knee and Rob
Funston.
Scoring for Centralia in
the middle frame were Mark
Cronyn and Rick Funston.
Assisting were Rick
Funston, Randy Somerville
and Rob Funston.
The teams each scored
single goals in the third
period. Glen Nicholson
scored for the Buckeyes on
an unassisted effort and
Blair Hearn hit for the
Trio score pair each
For a new voice
on
Hay Council
Marauders on a pass from game 11-3 but fell to the boys
in blue 5-4 in the second en-
_ counter.
As of Tuesday the Pon-
tiacs lead the series and
were expected to play the
Patz Boys last night.
The A final was also ex-
pected to resume last night
with the Dominion Tavern
t leading the D.J.'s in their
best of seven final three
games to one.

Arena activities begin
The Zurich arena kicks off
another season of activities
with public skating this Fri-
day evening, Halloween,
from 8 until 10.p.m.
Saturday evening is family
night at the arena with
skating taking place from 7
to 10 p.m.
On Wednesday afternoon
moms and tots get together
from 2 until 4.
Hockey fans get out the
woolies as the Zurich
Buckeyes take to the ice
Sunday afternoon in their
first game of , the South
Huron Hockey League
season.
The Bucks will be playing
the North Middlesex
Merchants at 2 p.m.
Has -Beans edged
by Goderich
In their only start of the
week the Zurich Has -Beans
oldtimers squad were edged
by Goderich in Goderich
Sunday by a score of 5-4.
Final week of ball?
The Zurich men's rec fast -
ball league continued their
playoffs with the Pontiacs
and Patz Boyssplittinga pair
of games played Monday in
the B final.
The Pontiacs took the first
Sherwoods drub CCA T
Three players had two
goals each as the Hensall
Sherwoods defeated the Cen-
tralia College of
Agricultural Technology
Saints 10-2 Thursday in Hen-
sall.
Picking up the double
scores were Rick Ingram,
Jamie Caldwell and Dave
Kinsman. --
The
The Sherwoods dominated
the game from the outset as
they scored the first six
goals of the game.
Scoring the first of his two
goals was Ingram who con-
verted a pass from Garry
Koehler at the 9:22 mark of
the first stanza.
Caldwell scored his two
goals in the initial period
with help coming from
Ingram, Steve Knight and Al
Bell.
Sandwiched In between
those two efforts was a score
by Steve Knight. Jim
Ferguson and 'Lloyd Allan
picked up the assists.
Hensall scored quickly in
the opening minutes of the
second frame as Len Smale
and Kinsman found the
mark. Kinsman's score was
unassisted while Koehler
and Kinsman assisted on
Smale's effort.
The Saints finally hit the
score sheet at 9:19 when
number 19 Dave Borrnett
fired a shot past Hensall
goalie Steve Sararas.
The final goal of the period
came from the stick of
Sherwood Dwight Consitt
who put one past CCAT
goalie Ian Finnie. Koehler
assisted.
In the third period the
hosts outscored their
visitors 3-1 with Brad Baker
scoring at 17:53. Koehler
continued to have a fine
game as he picked up his
fourth assist of the game.
Getting that score back for
CCAT was Mike Sadler with
a goal less than three
minutes later. Bob Hoskins
and Borrnett assisted.
Scoring the final two goals
of the game for Hensall were
Kinsman and Ingram.
Assisting on the goals were
Gary Davies, Kinsman and
Ingram.
