from an enjoyable two and a
half week vacation in Wawa.
It was well-timed to catch
the beauty of the fall colours
in the northern forests.
Bob and Bertie Keyes of
Grand Bend were in the Var-
na area on Friday, and
visited Ivan and Marg
McClymont in the afternoon
and spent the evening with
the Chessells. Bob, son of
James Keyes, was born in
the old house on the Parr
Line which Bob Reid is dis-
mantling since he, built his
new home there. Bob and
Bertie had the West End
Garage in Mitchell for many
years before moving to the
Bend.
The lovely new carpet was
installed in the choir loft and
back stairway at the church
on Friday.

Forty-nine members were
present at the senior
citizen's meeting held Mon-
day evening at the communi-
ty hall. Mrs. Pearl Miller
president, presided for the
business. A bus trip to Jack
Miner's sanctuary will be on
Dashwood

Alice Tieman was elected as
assistant seeretary-
treasurer, and Mr. Carl
Ohmeyer, Mr. Eben
Weigand, and Mr. Charles
Martene as trustees. A
Christmas dinner is being
planned for the December
meeting.
Hilda Rader was ap-
pointed as- a ,representative
to the community centre
board. Mrs. Alice Tieman
convener of group three was
in charge of the. program.
She led in a sing song and
conducted a progressive
euchre.
The next meeting is
November 24th with group
four in charge.
Many at sone rally
A large crowd attended
the zone eight rally Wednes-
day held at the Dashwood
Community Hall. It was
reported to be very in-
teresting, enjoyable and in-
formative. Mr. Jim Hoffman
was guest speaker at the
morning session speaking on
the ambulance service and
how lives can be saved by us-
ing proper procedures
before the ambulance or
doctor arrives.
In the afternoon a film and
•
talk were -presented- by Mr.
Terry: Crabe from the
Ministry of Natural
Resources, Pinery Provin
ciai Park. He told the
seniors of the interesting
things one could view at the
park.
• This was followed by a
rendition from The Good
Companions Senior Citizen's
Band.
Personals

accompanied Mr, and Mrs.
Douglas Gill of Exeter to the
services of the official open-
ing and dedication of the
Wyoming United Church

Serves 6
Six- 2" thick well -trimmed pork- chops (3 lbs.)
c. chili sauce
1/2 c. cold -water 1/8 tsp. pepper
11/2 c. hot water 1/4 tsp. curry ,powder
1 tbspTdried minced 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
onion (or 2 tbsp. 1 tsp. sugar
chopped raw onion) 2 tbsp. flour
11/z tsp. salt 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/a tsp. paprika 1 lemon sliced wafer thin
Preheat oven with top and bottom burners on to 375
deg. F. Place pork chops in one layer in an unbuttered
large baking dish, approx. 8" x 12" x 3" or 9' X 12" x
21/2 and insert under top burner while oven is at
"preheat" to sear and brown chops somewhat while
you mix deviled sauce ingredients. Mix together dry
the salt, paprika, pepper, curry powder, mustard,
flour and sugar. Then mix in chili sauce, onion,
Worcestershire sauce and cold water. Now add the
boiling water and pour all evenly over the seared
chops. Place about 2 or 3 wafer thin slices of lemon on
each chop, cover snugly with foil. Turn oven to "bake"
and place pan of chops on lowest rack in oven. Bake at
375 deg. F. for 75 minutes (11/4 hours). After 45 minutes
remove foil to allow top to dry off a little.
