Buckeyes fall to Exeter in
SHHL final rematch
The Zurich Buckeyes are
at the 500 mark early in the
South Huron Hockey League
season as the result of a 5-1
loss to the Exeter Mohawks
Thursday in Exeter.
The Buckeyes take on the
Centralia Marauders in
Centralia tonight and travel

the North Middlesex , Mer-
chants.
The Mohawks took a 1.0
lead at 6.16 of the first period
as Ron Moore beat Randy
Oke in the Zurich nets on a
pass from Randy Gilfillan.
The goal came on a power
play with Kim McKinnon of
the Buckeyes . off for trip-
ping.
After a scoreless middle
period, the Mohawks upped
their lead to 2-0 at the 49
second mark of the third
period as Mike Gagnon
scored on a three way
combination with Dan Webb
and len Bergman.
Quicker results
of hunt
Ontario's wildlife
managers are going to try to
get the results of this year's
moose and deer hunts much
earlier than in the past,
Ontario Natural Resources
Minister James Auld an-
nounced.
To accomplish this, the
sale of moose and deer
licences by non-government
licence issuers will be
stopped prior to the end of
the season.
Hunters will not be able to
buy moose licences after
October 31, 1980, and deer
licencbs after November 30,
1980, from outside licence
issuers.
However, hunters will still
be able to purchase both
licence( at Ontario Ministry
of National Resources district
and regional offices, as well
as at the Ministry offices in
Toronto until the end of the
open season.
The only scoring for the
Buckeyes came on a power
play at 4:18 of the final
session as Pat Bedard hit the
net on a . play started by
Kerry ' Bedard and John
Graham.
The Mohawks regained.
their two goal lead a minute
after Bedard's score as Ken
Bergman registered on a
pass from Luke Gagnon.
In the last half of the third
period, Mike-Anstett scored
with passing help from Ron
Moore and Tom Ryan while
Ken Bergman scored on as
assislt'from Mike Anstett.
John Hayter was in goal
for the Mohawks and held
the Buckeyes to a single
goal.
Each team picked up 13
penalties, all of the minor
variety.
Bedard wins in Goderich
debut
Long-time Zurich Buckeye
goalie Percy Bedard had a
very successful debute for
the Goderich Merchants as
they defeated the Hensall
Sherwoods 10-2.
Bedard was dropped by
the Buckeyes following the
signing of former Goderich
Sailer netminder .Jurgen
Hellman.

Rec ball continues
Action in the Zurich men's
rec ball league continued
this week with the Tavern
Boys defeating the D.J.'s 5-2
to tie their A 'series final at
two games each.
In the B final the Pontiacs
defeated the Patz team 15-9
to take a twd game lead in
their best of seven B final.
Has -Beans active
The Zurich Has -Beans
have' stated another season
of old-timers hockey in good
form with a 4-4 tie with
Goderich on the weekend.
Team spokesman Gerald
Shantz said they have the
same team as last year
which sees Yvon Laurin in
goal, Dick Bedard, George
Suplat, George Haggith, Alec
Letherland, Bob Morrisey
and Glen Thurman on
degence and Don O'Brien,
Dick O'Brien, Bob Merner,
Eric- Smale, Jack Stephan,
• Lloyd Moore, Bob Johnston,
Ron Watt, Murray Baker,
Larry Merner and Shantz
manning the forward lines.
• Bob Brown- is the playing
coach.
The team's first tour-
nament will be in London on
the weekend of November 28
when they'll take part in the
giant Great Lakes tour-
nament.
Shantz said the squad is
investigating other tour-
nament possibilities.

Turkheirm not running
No election for reps
All representatives from
the South Huron area to the
Huron County Board of
Education have been elected
by acclamation.
Harry Hayter and
Clarence (King) McDonald
who have been the school
board members for the town
Of Exeter and the townships
of Stephen and Usborne for a
number of years are
returning.
Herb Turkheim of Zurich,
who has represented the
villages of Hensall and
Zurich and the township of
Hay has retired. He is being
replaced for the 1981-82 term
by Dr. John Goddard of
Hensall.
For the township of
Tuckersmith and the town of
Seaforth Frank . Falconer
replaces Dorothy Williams.
Falconer has been on
Tuckersmith council for a
number of years.
The separate school
representative on the Huron
County Board of Education
will be Dennis Rau. He
replaces his father Charles
who is retiring.
Bob Peck on the board for
quite some time from the
township of Stanley and the
village of Bayfield has been
returned for another term.
Similarily there will be no
election for any of the Huron -
Perth Separate School Board
