D. J.'s lead series
While snowy weather may
not be a.that far away four
teams are still playing in the
Zurich men's rec fastball
league playoffs.
In the A series the D.J.'s
after being down one game
have come back to take a 2-1
lead in the . best of seven
final.
On Wednesday the team in
blue easily handled the
Dominion Tavern team as
they scored a 17-4 victory.
On Friday the D.J.'s took
the game by default as the
Taverners failed to field a
team.
In the B final the Pontiacs
took a 1-0 lead in their best of
seven series as they edged
the Patz Boys 5-4.
The Pontiacs scored three
runs in the second inning on
singles by Don O'Brien, Bob
Merneri, Percy Bedard and a
double by Bob Brown.
One inning later a walk to
Mike Overholt and by Barry
Overholt produced another
run while the Pontiac's fifth
and final run came in the
sixth inning on doubles by
Merner and Percy Bedard.
Zurich Buckettes
The Zurich senior ringette
team made up of a group of
very enthusiastic young
ladies, have chosen the
name "Zurich Buckettes"
for themselves.
The team includes: Patty
Debour(chosen team cap-
tain), Debbie Smith,
Shannon Smale, Joanne
McKinley, Debbie Overholt,
Nancy Overholt, Lori
Turkheim, Janice Campbell,
Beth Gelinas, Vicki Bedard,
heresa Dietrich, Nancy
hornton, and Jackie
Bedard and Lori Meidinger
(team Manager).
The Buckettes will form
one of this areas first
ringette teams, and will be
playing competitively with
other area teams hosting
home games, as well as
travelling.
The cost of equipment
operating expenses for a
team just starting out is
great. The girls have decided
amongst themselves to
spend Saturday, the 18th of
October, between the hours
of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
