At a• meeting of county council earlier this year it had been indicated that the Huronview home for the aged at Clinton would not be enlarged and that a home would be built in either the northern or southern end of -the county. Exeter council nave agreed to form a committee to look into the need for a home in the area. All councillors were in agreement that the new home should be constructed in the area if an addition to Huronview was not made. Councillor Tony $edard a ong with Lionel Wilder said that' a , separate building would result in much higher per - patient costs compared to an extension at Huronview. Hay council will have some new faces after November 10. Following the meeting deputy -reeve Lloyd Dashwood man badly hurt A 26 -year-old Dashwood man, Joseph Wragg, suf- fered serious internal in- juries in a one -vehicle collision Wednesday. He lost control of his vehicle on Highway 83 east of Huron Road 2 and it rolled over in the ditch. Damage was estimated at $3,550 by Constable Bill Osterloo. Wragg was taken to University Hospital in London and underwent an emergency operation for his internal injuries. On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Joseph Robbins, Hensall, struck a parked car on King St. in Hensall. The other vehicle was owned by Kenneth Govers, RR 1 Crediton. Total damage was set at $1,000 by Constable Ed Wilcox. The third accident was reported on Sunday when a vehicle driven by Steven R. Henry, Smith Falls, went out of control on Huron St. about one mile west of Exeter and skidded off the road. The other crash of the week was an unusual one that occurred around 10:00 a.m., Monday, when a car became wedged on the bridge at the Devil's Elbow about three miles west of Exeter on Stephen sideroad 20-21. Heidi Klatt, RR 1 Comber was proceeding over the bridge when she lost control of the vehicle and the right front hit the guardrail. The vehicle then skidded and became wedged sideways on the bridge, which is slated to be replaced soon by the township. Mousseau announced he would he candidate for the reeve of the township, a position presently held by Jack 'Finney. The incumbent was not at the meeting as he was representing the township at a meeting of the Association of Counties and Regions. Wilder said he will stand for deputy -reeve while Bedard and Dick Rau said they would. be seeking another term as councillors. Formermemberof council Dorn Geiger. who was at the meeting said 'he would seek election to council. Council set October 27 as the date for ratepayers meeting to discuss activities in the township and , the up- coming election. will be $39,457. In other business, the board rejected collecting education taxes frogl._Huron County's 26 municipalities quarterly in favor of con- tinuing twice -yearly collections. • Although the board 'had rejected-: the idea of four collections a year last June, despite a potential $70,000 savings on interest charges, the board decided to poll the municipalities and found the majority rejected the scheme. In recommending to the board- the •adoption of quarterly collections, education director John Cochrane said in a report to the board it would make "good business sense"and to do otherwiae 'is `political decision _ made by Ake board." • The board feared. ,the proposal would be a, financial burden to anion muniicipalites which . collect taxes from ratepafeil o" e or tisk* a year. Four trustees announced they will not seek relleetion. They :are Goderich 'fustee Dave • Gower and ' trUstee Shirley Hanzlitt, representing the townships of Colborne and rich Clinton trustee Dorothy Williams; and Seaforth trustee John Henderson. The 12 remaining trustees all said they will seek re- election. qv""mznicrtgs SVu!^ Of Ddslie.oec7 rna r,-n?S@Cl;n ' c"e 2 -?7' '4 BUY BULK OPEN 9 A.M.-6 P.M. MON.-SAT.
