Round and about the village
Mrs. Lillian Matthewson,
aunt of Mr. George Grigg,
Bayfield, visited from
Connell,• Scotland. While
here, she visited the Shaw
Festival at Niagara -on -the -
Lake with her great-niece,
Mary Grigg. Other vacation
time was also spent with
friends, Mr. and Mrs.
Hiscock, in Sandridge and
touring Ottawa, Montreal
and Quebec City. This was
Mrs. Matthewson's third
visit to (fanada, and she
maintains that Bayfield is
her favorite spot....
Mr, and Mrs. Bud
Sturgeon travelled the dusty
road to Windsor last
weekend,.we they stayed
where stayed
with Barb's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Davidson, and
brother Bill. While in the Sun
Parlour of Canada, (and
don't kid yourself, It snowed
there on - Saturday), they
attended"a friend's wedding.
Mr. Bill Latimer, Weston,
tripped up to Bayfield last
Thursday evening, and spent
Friday with his grand-
mother, Mrs. Ethel Knight,
at her Louisa Street
residence. "Wild Bill"
brought along his new boat,
"the Probiscus", in which he
hopes to set sail on the
waters of the Bayfield River
soon.°Word has it thatihe and
the rest of his cohorts, (that
make up the rod and gun
club) are out to win the big
fishing contest coming up in
October.
And speaking of the
Bayfield Lions Second
Annual Rainbow Trout
Derby that is coming up on
October 17, the fish are
ready and waiting to be
caught. Our own Expert
Angler, "the Stickman",
reports catching salmon
last, weighing 25,20,14,and 17
pounds, in two days of
fishing.
Notwithstanding all of this,
an older gentleman was seen
standing in the rapids,
netting trout at will. We
presume that he could not
afford a fishing reel and the
other equipment neccesary
to catch them legally.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Brandon
have returned from their
honeymoon, and have taken
up residence in the village.
Chris Latimer and Kevin
Reid, Weston, were weekend
guests of Mrs. Ethel Knight
in the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Tim West
journeyed to Londoiron the
weekend, to attend the
wedding of friends therein.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hulley,
Paris, spent the weekend in
Bayfield, and babysat
Spooky, Nucjso, Callie and
Run -Tum, the Cat family.
Golden
The weather has co-
operated with the con-
tractors for the new apart-
ment complex and now most
of the outside work is
completed. We are an-
ticipating that they will be
ready for occupancy the
early part of November.
Anyone wishing any in-
formation concerning them
may call the office anytime
during business hours.
Now that most people have
wound up their summer
activities, their visits would
be welcomed by the
residents. We are also
looking for groups who would
like to come and entertain
during the evening.
Mr. Fred Gibson is still a
