Mr. John Oesch .of the
Goshen north had the
misfortune to lose a
valuable horse on Monday,
struck by lightning. •
- Mr. C. Fritz, the local store
shoe merchant is having a
contest for the two largest
potatoes by one individual. A
$1. cash prize is being
awarded and the contest
closes on Saturday, October
30, in the evening, when the
same will be weighed and
eligible party will be given
the prize.
Mr. Menno Oesch, son of
Mr. John Oesch, Goshen
North, had the mishap to
step on a rusty nail last
week, the consequences
resulting in lock-jaw. He was
at once hurried to London
Hospital, where he received
treatments, and returned to
his home on Sunday, relieved
of his distress.

Mr. J.C; Salmon, teamster
of the village, has leased the
property near the fair
grounds from the owner, Mr.
A. Proctor, of Goderich, and
is moving there this week.
The villagers were
somewhat disturbed on
Tuesday night by the late
homegoers, from the concert
and dance in the town hall. In
fact the disturbance lasted
till well past three o'clock in
the morning.
In the future every person
In charge of a motorcar who
is directly or indirectly in an
accident will be obliged to
make out a report himself of
the accident for submission
to the Motor Vehicle Branch
of Public Highways.
Workmen are engaged in
digging the trenches for the
parties" interested in having
the water piped to their
homes and places of
business, supplied by the
town's water tank, and a big
convenience it will be to
these rather fortunate
citizens, who, when a pail of
water was wanted, were
obliged to walk quite a
distance.

days at the home of the

made a fast trip to Detroit on
Sunday.
Mr. Ward Fritz, ac-
companied by Gordon
Turnbull, of Grand Bend
enjoyed a fishing trip in the
Perry Sound district.
Mrs. Ed Datars, Sr., of
town has sold her brick
dwelling at the north end of
town to Mr. Keith Westlake
and Mrs. Datars has pur-
chased the dwelling of Mr.
Charles Thiel beside the
Lutheran Church.

Rain and drizzle on
Tuesday afternoon spoiled to
a large extent the attendance
of the Zurich Fall Fair.
Residents of Hensall and
community were shocked to
learnof the sudden passing of
Mr. George Mark Drysdale,
prominent Hensall resident
and businessman, who died
suddenly in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, September
26.
Marriage vows were
pledged by Irma Marie
Baechler and Mr. Floyd
Laverne Buehler on
Saturday September 1, at
2:30 p.m. in the Blake A.M.
Church.
Mr. Edgar Hoffman of the
Goshen Line South, was
honored at a reception in the
Town Hall, Zurich; prior to
leaving for Brockville where
he will enter the Monastery
as a Redemptorest Brother.

Cider scare downplayed

Lynch, responding to
concern among council
members about the outbreak
and its* possible effect on
apple growers in Huron, said
that a "tremendous amount
of work" has to be done
before it can be proven that
apple cider produced by a
Halton -area orchard caused
the rare kidney ailment.
A county health inspector
did -turn up at the weekend's
ciderfest at Egmondville he
said, but that was mainly for
public relations. No
problems at the ciderfest
were reported, he said.
