Mr. Frank Siebert left for
Detroit on Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Preeter
left on Monday morning for
an extended trip to St.
Catharines, Niagara Falls,
and other eastern points.
Owing to the continuous
increase in the prices of
materials used in the bar-
bering business, the prices of
haircuts in Zurich, Dash-
wood and Crediton have been
raised.
Mr. Henry Gellman
brought to Zurich a stalk of
corn which measured 12 feet
5 inches high. The corn was
grown on the farm of his
father, Jacob Gellman, on
the Goshen Line, north of
Zurich.
Miss Olive 9'Brien spent
the past weekend in Hensall.
Joseph Meidinger, Ed
Snell and Joseph Etue left on
Wednesday morning for the

On August 8, a number of
people gathered at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Klopp
in honor of Rev. and Mrs. H.
Rembe and family, of
Winnipeg, and who were
here on their vacation, and
presented the pastor with a
gold cross.
Rev. and Mrs. Roy M.
Geiger and family, of
Preston, spent a week with
relatives in Zurich.

spending the week with
friends at Pigeon, Michigan,
and are also taking in the big
Evangelical Camp Meeting
at Bay Shore, Sebawing,
Michigan.
The other day while Archie
Rowcliffe was unloading
oats with a sling, the
whipple-tree broke and the
sling came back with such
force as to inflict serious
wounds to his stomach. He
was taken to Seaforth
Hospital where he was
operated on and is doing as
well as can be expected.
35 Years Ago
Dr. and Mrs. H.H. Cowan
and family had their
household effects moved to
Exeter last week, and the
belongings of Mr. and Mrs.
E.M. Dagg are expected to
arrive 'in a day or two, oc-
cupy the house which the
Cowan's vacated.
Mrs. Edith Clarke, of
Florida, and Mrs. Clara
Grey, of London, spent the
weekend at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Brown on
the 14th concession.
Mrs. Mina Finlin, of
Winnipeg who has been
visiting with Miss Ethel
Williams for the past few
weeks, has left for a short
visit with friends in Toronto.
The rebuilding of the home
of Ed Beaver is now com-
pleted and adds greatly to
the appearance of the west
end of the village.
The eight children of
Robert Geiger, of Crediton,
who were all operated on to
have their tonsils removed
are getting along quite well:
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon
Schatz of Dashwood are
spending their vacation in
Detroit.
25 Years Ago
A large gathering took
place last Thursday evening
on the local baseball
diamond when the Dashwood
Tigers were over and played
the local Zurich Lumber
Kings.
The fifth annual reunion of
the Kalbfleisch Family was
held on Sunday, August 14,
with approximately 120
persons in attendance.
Miss Inez Yungblut
motored toNew Hamburg on
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerome
Dietrich were visitors to
London one day last week.
Sharon and Elaine Hugill
spent a week in London
bringing. back Nancy
and Laird Thiel.
Rev. and Mrs. O. Winter
spent a day in London the
past week.
Mrs. Leroy Thiel and her
children spent a few days
visiting her parents at
London.
Mrs. Melizza Geiger and
son Clare were last Thur-
sday in Kitchener, where
they visited their cousin, Mr.
Percy Weido at the K -W
hospital.
20 Years Ago
After not working for the
past two years, the clock in
the steeple of the Lutheran
Church in Zurich is back in
operating condition.
A farewell party for Miss
Martha Corriveau, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph
Corriveau, RR 1, Zurich,
who is leaving shortly to
attend school at Mount St.
Joseph in London, was held
at the Community Centre, on
Saturday, August 13.
When pleasure becomes a
habit it ceases to be a
pleasure.
