Merner and Paul Bedard. , Staff photo Dashwood Peewees headed for WOAA baseball finals In Peewee E play Dash- wood eliminated Seaforth in two straight games. The second game was held Wednesday at Seaforth with Dashwood triumphing with a 15-4 score. Doug Schade pitched, SPORTS • SPOT by Marlene and Tony Bedard allowing four hits, striking out seven and walked three batters. Ted Hodgins and Buddy Richardson had three singles each with two singles apiece were Brad Steeper, Doug Schade and Trevor Johnston. Paul Bedard had a double and Mark Johnston had a single. Friday evening Dashwood defeated Flesherton by a score of 26-2in the first game of the second round of the W.O.A.A. pee wee play-offs. Trevor Johnston was the winning pitcher giving up two hits and striking out 13. Dashwood collected 20 each having three singles and a triple. Ted Hodgins had a single, double, and a home run. Flesherton forfeited the second game to Dashwood. Dashwood will now meet either Hanover or Mount Forest in the W.O.A.A. final with the winner going to the O.B.A. playdowns. Motocross action Motocross race action continued Sunday afternoon at Hully Gully with the first race in the second half of the race season. Sunny skies and warm weather warmed the spirits of many spectators. The fastest lap time of the day was recorded by Allan Logue of Hamilton, who performed a great race, which was 2.5 minutes. The day's results are as follows: Small wheels: Galen Caley, Norwich, R: Randy Ford, Grand Bend; Pat Sharp Guelph. Experimental 80: Chris Beaumont, Chatham; Scott Wilson, London, Ian Mellors, Cambridge. Large Wheels: Rob Kuenzig, Cambridge; Dwaine Fenton, Chatham; Randy Zuest, Milton. Junior 125: Sam Providenti, Paris; Stuart Galloway, London; Robert Davies, Aylmer. Junior 250: Don Van Patter, St. Thomas; Bernie Smits, Sarnia; Mark Naglich, Windsor. Announce music results Mrs. Dorothy Stade has announced the results of re- cent music exams with the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. Mrs. Marjorie Hayter received first class honours in grade three harmony, Mrs. Marie Deichert had first class honours in grade two rudiments and Susan Deichert had a pass in her grade eight piano. Julie McBeath passed her grade six piano, Becky McKinley had first class honours in her grade five piano and Tracy Hayter had honours in grade four piano. Martha Klopp had a pass in the grade three piano category. Junior Open: Bill Mitchell, Newbury; Bob Viscarol, Newbury; Blair Grover, Markham. Buckeyes lose two In the Elmira . fastball tournament held this past weekend the Zurich Buckeyes were defeated in their two games. The Bucks went down to defeat at the hands of Strathroy 2-0 and in the second game were defeated by a Kitchener squad 12-8. Cubs edge Pirates The Cubs edged the Pirates 5-4 in minor softball action last week. The Cubs scored three runs in the first inning on walks to Paul Bedard and Marty Merner, a triple by Paul Smith and a sacrifice. fly by Mark Johnston. The winner's other two runs came in the third inning on a single by Paul Bedard and a double by Paul Smith. Slo- Pitch -playoffs begins The South Huron Men's slo-pitch league ended upthe regular season play and post season action is now well underway. In the Tuesday night opener for the Bayfield Flyers, it was close but they dropped a 7-6 decision to the Zurich Eagles in Zurich. Thursday night in Bayfield the Eagles again dumped them this time by an 11-5 count to win the best -of -three series 2 game to nil. Wednesday night in Bayfield the regular season champion Knighthawks met defeat at the hands of the Dashwood squad, losing 13-12 Two card tables placed together won't move apart if strong rubber bands are slipped over adjoining legs. Switching to the Bluewater Ladies Slo-pitch League action, the ' regular season ended last Monday evening with the Varna Agricos ousting the Bayfield Blue Shadows 15-4 to win the league championship. - The playoff schedule sees Varna at the Babes, and the Stars at the Goodtimes in best -of -five semi-finals. .In tournament play this past weekend, the Bayfield Flyers travelled to Dor- chester where they Lost to Anderton Tavern of Windsor 12 to 0 and to the Zurich Eagles 12 to 9 therebybeing eliminated. Tim West of the Bayfield Knighthawks was in Paris Ontario on Saturday where he played for Woodstock Bell in the annual Bell Telephone Slo-Pitch Tournament.
