Many visit in Zurich and vicinity
Weekend visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Ferd Haberer
were, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Oxland and Tom of Kit-
chener and Mr. and Mrs. Arn
Myer, Beth and Jim of New
Hamburg.
Aunts, uncles, cousins,
nieces, nephews and
grandchildren from various
Zurich
Carmel Sweeney
places such as Toronto,
Windsor, Detroit, Kitchener,
London, Durham and Zurich
were reunited on Saturday
and Sunday at the first
Sweeney reunion held in
Dornoch, Ontario (near
Owen Sound) A lot of
reminiscing picture taking
and the meeting of new
additions to the families
made the two day event fun,
interesting and enjoyable.
Those attending from our
area were the Jerome
Sweeney family, Butch
Sweeney family, Sharon
Overholt family and Mozart
and Marie Gelinas families.
Several people from town
took part in the activities in
Dashwood on Friday and
Saturday during their
Friedsburg Days.
Last Monday a social
evening was held at the
home of Gerry Thiel for all
the fair board members who
worked so hard at the recent
fair.
Mrs. Anne Besozzi and son
Steven from San Francisco
are presently spending a
month visiting with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Kane..
Master Richard Bedard of
Goderich son of Lennis and
Marlene Bedard is spending
most of the summer helping
on the farm of his uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Gerard
Masse at RR 3, Zurich.
Doug and Lois Thiel and
boys returned home last
Monday from a two week
trip to McBride B.C. where
they united with relatives,
Allen and Gail Thiel and
daughters,
Earl and Melinda
Gingerich of Florida are
presentlyvocationing for
three weeks with the latter's
brother, Mr. Alvin Steckle,
and other relatives in Zurich
and Hensall area.
Farewell to Norm and
Donna Salmon who moved to
Exeter on Saturday.
Marc, Cindy and Melinda
Gelinas of London have
spent the past two weeks at
her parents cottage near
Bayfield and visiting with
relatives in Zurich.

We hope you enoyed one of
our last holiday weekends
just past with a little better
co-operation from the
weatherman than we have
had in the past.
Finally the construction is
under way for the addition of
the 10 senior citizens'
apartments which will be
built to the east of the Home
and there will be two ad-
joining entrances to the
home. These apartments will
be built on much the same
principals our Maplewoods
Apartments.
We are hoping they will be
ready for occupancy in the
early part of the New Year.
At the moment, the con-
struction work is providing
entertainment for quite a
number of our residents who
like to watch the daily
progress.
We welcome Mrs. Mary
Elliott, formerly of Exeter to
the home.
Residents who were out
visiting during the week
were Mr. James Clarke,
Mrs. Mabel Jaques, Mrs.
Eva Thiel, Mrs. Fern
Armitage, Mrs. Nancy
Koehler, Mrs. Beatrice
Overholt, Mrs. Jennetta
Finnigan and Mr. John
Cornish. Bingo was played
on Friday evening followed
by refreshments.
A number of our residents
went by bus to Dashwood on
Saturday afternoon to watch
the Friedsburg parade
during the afternoon.
The Sunday evening
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Stanley
MacDonald.
Mrs. Middleton presided at
the organ during the service.
family spent a few days last
week camping at BenMiller
near Goderich.
Theresa Stark and sister
Bern Denomme spent a
couple of days in Toronto this
past week visiting with their
aunt and uncle.
Anyone interested in going
to St. Marys to the
Pilgrimage Shrine on
Wednesday, August 20th by
bus - organized through St.
Boniface C.W.L. are
welcome, and can phone
Pearl Miller at 237-3554 for a
seat.
A staff barbecue for those
who work at the Bake shop
was enjoyed by all on
Wednesday at Doug's cot-
tage in Bayfield.
Holiday weekend guests
with Allan and Isobel Gascho
were their children and in-
laws, Carol and Brian
Belchamber and son of
Ottawa, Linda and Al Moran
of Toronto and Miss Matra ,
Gascho also of Toronto.
Claude and Madeline
Gelinas spent the long
weekend in Leamington
visiting with relatives
Maurice and Mary DeWaele.
Also staying over night in
London on Sunday with John
and Ann O'Niell and family.
Several relatives of the
Sreenan descent helda family
reunion on Sunday at Dick
Rau's on the Blue Water.
A three week trip by
mobile home was made by
Bob and Tottie Merner and
two children and Percy and
Willie Bedard -and children.
They enjoyed travelling to
such places as California and
Mexico, then up the coast to
British Columbia through
North and South Dakota.
