theme of 4-H clubs
4-H Dashwood club 2 of the
4-H girls "Outdoor Living"
with leaders Mrs. Ray Rader
and Mrs. Earl Keller spent a
Dashwood

day of camping at the Ray
Rader farm.
Twelve girls did outdoor
cooking and took nature
hikes through the bush. They
learned how to press flowers,
make candles and place
mats.
They held their meeting
and practices their skit to be
presented this Wednesday
evening (July 30) at Crediton
Park for Achievement Day.

reunion at Blackstock
recreation centre. On their
return home, Sunday, they

London, spent some time at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Geiser and girls' while
they were on vacation.

Friedsburg Days are for
both the young and seniors.
Dashwood senior citizens
are having a fine display of
crafts, Saturday afternoon
and evening in the com-
munity hall. There will be no
sales but the3Avill be making
the draws for'the lovely quilt
and cushion.

Orioles edge Expos
Goderich teams take tourney
The annual Zurich
Buckeyes fastball tour-
nament was another success
with teams from Goderich
taking both the K and B
trophies.
In the A_ final Saturday
which actually finished early
the way for the Bucks and in
their game against Goderich
Fisher, Hodgins allowed
seven hits for Zurich.
In other games Goderich
Ziebai t defeated South Zorra
Embro edged Clinton 3-
2 and Lieury hammered

Goderich scored one run in
the first inning. and added
four runs in the sixth imiag.
Leo Meidinger presented
the champs with their trophy
and a cheque for $225.
Embro took $125 home for
their fine finish.
Goderich Fisher Building
took their B trophy with an 8-
3 win over Lieury.
;Lieury scored the first
three runs of the game but
two runs in the fourth and a
single run in the sixth tied
the game at three -all.
The game then went into
extra innings scoring five
wins in the llth tO take the
Shaw's dairy store trophy
and the $125 B champ's
money.
Lieury collected $60 for
their efforts.
The host Buckeyes were
defeated by Embro 4-1 and
edged Goderich Fisher
Buildings 3-2.
In Embro game they
scored their only run in the
first inning on a lead-off
single by Rick Schilbe and an
error on Kevin McKinnons
grounder. The Buckeyes had
a total of three hits two by
Schilbe and a single by Brian
Hodgins.
Kevin McKinnon, Mike
Masse and Ron Clarke lead -
6-I.
In games involving
Hensall the squad in blue
were defeated 4-0 by
Goderich Ziebart and 6-2 by
Lieury.
In the Lieury game,
Hensall had three hits in-
cluding a triple by Steve
Knight and singles by Bill
Brock and Rich Parker.
Zurich rec ball
Asa result of their 10-6 win
over the Dee Jays the
Sunsets have taken over first
place.
Hitting home runs were
Mark Regier of the Sunsets
and Mike Clarke for the Dee
Jays.
In another game, the
Dominion Tavern defeated
the Oil Burners.
Minor ball
In a hitter's game Thur-
sday, the Orioles edged the
Expos 31-30. The Orioles had
38 hits including seven home
runs.
Dashwood Peewees
The Dawhwood peewees
have had lots of success
lately with victories in their
last four games.
Last week the peewees
edged Goderich 9-8 with
Doug Schade and Trevor
Johnston striking out 11 and
allowing only five hits.
At the plate Schade had
three hits and Ted Hodgins
chipped in with a double.
