represents a wise investment.
Ontario Minister of
Agriculture and Food Lorne
Henderson said at the
opening of the new Huron
Hall residence at the Cen-
tralia College of Agricultural
Technology, Saturday, that
the occasion marked an
important milestone in the
history Of the College.
He told an audience of over
200 people of the memories
he was reminded of that day.
"When .Centralia College
opened, back in 1967, we took
on several buildings . which
had. been built for other
purposes. Gradually we have
brought some of'those
buildings up to our own
standards. In other cases, we
have replaced those original
buildings altogether t" he
said.
Henderson said that the
new facilities, with a
capacity for 200 students,
represent a wise investment
in the future since careers in.
the - agriculture and food
industries are becoming
increasingly popular. In
1969, he said there were only
49 - Centralia College
graduates compared to over
100 each year since 1972.
He also said that the new
residence symbolizes his
ministry's commitment to
the future of agriculture and
the government's- concern
with • energy conservation.
Construction of:. the 3.4
million dollar building began
in September 1978, when
Henderson was present as
