A family reunion was held at the home of Mrs. Dolly Jeffrey at St. Joseph's on Zurich Caramel Sweeney Sunday for her children and their spouses and her grandchildren which came to a total of 43. Those present were, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jeffrey and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jeffrey and family, Zurich, Mr. and Mrs.Joseph Denomme and family, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Jeffrey and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Birr and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jeffrey and family all of London.Mr. and Mrs. Brad Gregus of Exeter and Mike, Robert and Jeannette Jeffrey, along with friends Gary Rau and Susan Harris. Dekhert reunion Seventy-one members of he Deichert family ;athered Sunday afternoon it the Dashwood community !entre for the annual )eichert reunion and an !n joyable afternoon of sports tad fellowship. Winners of the races were: 5 'ears and under - Wayne Celler; 6-8 years: Matthew 'arsons; 9-11 years - David )eichert; 12-14 years - Ross ;yeller; wheel -barrow races - .eff and Mark Keller and Varren and Ross Keller; ;uessing contest Anne )eichert; frisbee toss - Ratthew Parsons. Team ace winners were the teams ed byRoss Keller and Elgin Celler. Folowing a delicious pot- uck supper under the onvenership of Ron and rudy Deichert and George ;nd Elaine Keller, a short ►usiness meeting was held, onducted by Roger Keller in he absence of the President, Cen Keller. Elected to the 980-81 executive were' )resident John Deitchert; 'ice president - Barry 'arsons; secretary - Joyce Celler; treasurer - Claire )eichert; sports conveners- ;lgin and Mabel Keller and dike and Eddie Keller ; Food conveners- Harvey Ind Edith Hohner and Albert Ind Marie Deiehert. During the meeting prizes vere given to Peter Deichert, the oldest person present; Victor and Jose Deichert, the couple married the longest; Barry and Pauline Parsons, whose anniversary is closest to the day of the picnic; claire Deichert, with abirthday closest to the picnic date; youngest person present, Christopher Keller and Albert and Marie Deichert, most recently married of those at the picnics All who attended would agree that it was a most successful picnic and are looking forward to the 1981 picnic to be held July 19th , 1981 at the Dashwood Community centre. Lutheran ladies meet The Lutheran church women held their July meeting in the form of a picnic last Tuesday af- ternoon at the Westlake cottage near Bayfield. Mrs. Edith Yungblut, Mrs. Alice Thiel and Mrs. Margaret Westlaxewere the committee in charge. After playing a few games and having a delicious picnic lunch; the president Mrs. Doris Deichert conducted a short business meeting. Pet people picnic Members and family of the Huron County Poultry, Pigeon and Pet stock association held their third annual picnic and lawn show at the farm of Cliff and Laura Pepper on Sunday. Returns from Afghanistan Welcome home to Miss Carol Erb who arrived last Wednesday from Afghanistan, and will be spending a couple of weeks with, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Erb and visiting with relatives and friends. Persona b Mrs. Annie Finkbeiner and her sister, Mrs. Irene McClinchy attended the funeral of a relative in Brodhakrn on Monday. Mr. and Mrs.George Harvey of Detroit Michigan spent last week on the Blue Water at their cottage. Sister Laurette Farwell of Caledonia spent the previous week with her sister Mrs. Marcella Dietrich and her brother Mr.Clarence Far- well. Congratulations to Danny andDonna Overholt (nee Riddell) who were married on Saturday at St. Boniface Church. They are the children . of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Overholt and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Riddell. The couple are to live in London. A wonderful time was had by all of us. who wentona five day bus trip last week from Monday to Friday to Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec city. which was organized throggh the C.W.L. (Look for write up elsewhere in the paper.) A Hartman reunion was held on Sunday at the school grounds of St. Boniface, with 120 attending. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schilbe, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Merner, Zurich and Miss Donna Merner of Toronto all attended the Ross -Reschke w • . • in Detroit over the w - - • nd. On Sunday were guests of Mrs. Rose Mary Reschke in Dearborn. As Sunday was the 27th annual Merner reunion in Dashwood they were able to stop in for awhile on their way back home. Master Jamie Hoffman of Dashwood is presently spending the week with his grandparents Marg and Hubert Schilbe, while his parents Jim and Donna are on holidays. Paul and Joan Ducharme have returned home from a two week vacation out West in Alberta, where they visited with friends, Marg and Carl - Willert in Old's Alberta, Wayne and Helen Horner and family in LaFonde, and Ruth and Edgar Willert in Innisf field, Alberta. They also stopped in to see Terry McBride in Calgary. Darcy and Margo Ducharme spebt the last two weeks with their grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lane in Seaforth. A good time was had by all who went to the Oesch reunion at the community park in Hensall on Sunday. Those going from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Oesch and family and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Flaxbard. Recent visitors with Mrs. Myrtle Deitz were her nephew and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Haines and two children of Virginia and all were supper guest of Mrs. and Mrs. Clare Geiger RR 2 Zurich. Saturday callers with Myrtle were her sister Mrs. Mildred Cora of Dearborn, Michigan and twin nephews,Ronald and Donald Fahner of Crediton who all went out to dinner celebrating their birthdays together. Weekend visitors with Mrs. Marie Hess were her son, Mr. and Mrs. Quimby Hess and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hess and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. John Neale, all of Toronto. Laurie Heimrich, whose. marriage to Philip Erb takes place this .Saturday, has been honoured at several bridal showers. Mrs. Christine Eagleson and Mrs. Audrey Haberer were hostesses at the_ Haberer home - at a Mower for Laurie's relatives and friends. A shower was held at the home of Mrs. Eleanor Jantzi in Lindwood with relatives of Phil attending. Laurie's girlfriends met at the McAllister home on the Parr Line for a shower given by' Karen McAllister and Deb Horner. Many friends were on hand at . the ,Mennonite Church fellowship hall to honour Laurie last week. Phil's sisters were hostesses at this event. - Mrs. Myrtle Francis and Tracy and Dorteen Prance of London spent last Tuesday and Wednesday with Mrs. Myrtle Hay. Saturday visitors were Gord and Ada McDonald and Mise Kay Hay., of Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kendall and family of St. George, Ontario spent the weekend with Ed -and Dorthy Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sloan and family of Peterborough spat the weekend with Ed and Donna Lesperance and all attended the Smith reunion on Saturday that was held ' at the community centre in Dashwood. Mr. and Mrs. E. Nicholas of Flint, Michigan spent last weekend with Mrs. Pask and Mrs. T. Tetreau. Mr. and -Mrs. Orval McAdams of London called ion Mrs. Tetreau last Sunday afternoon. • Congratulations to Mr, and Mrs. Bill Fuss on celebrating their 30th wedding an- niversary.
