Two die in area car crash
Two London residents died
from injuries sustained
when their car left Highway
83r west of DashWood late
Sunday afternoon and
smashed into a tree.
The vehicle was driven by
Hugh • . MacKinnon
Shuttleworth. 154 Central
Ave., and his passenger was
43 year-old Mary Ellen
Eynon: 114. ,Arbour Glen
Cres..
They died about an hour
after being taken to Univer-
sity Hospital by Hoffman's
Ambulance.
Exeter OPP report that
the vehicle was westbound
when it crossed the highway
and struck the tree on the
south side about 3.4 km. west
of Dashwood.
The couple was trapped in
the vehicle for some time
and the Dashwood fire
department members were
called to assist at the scene.
Medical assistance was
provided by Dr. L. O'Con-
nor. Grand Bend. and Dr. P.
Englert. Exeter, who
happened upon the scene of
the crash shortly after it oc-
curred.
OPP Constable Jack
Straughan. who investigated
along with Cpl. Dave
Woodward and Constable Al
Quinn. said the 1971 Valiant
was demolished and he set
damage at $1.000.
The motor of the vehicle
was pushed back into the
front seat and couple suf-
fered massive injuries.
An oncoming vehicle was
only 100 feet from the Lon-
don car when it crossed the
highway and struck the tree.
The witnesses said the vehi-
cle hit the tree. recoiled and
hit it again.
The victims were
pronounced dead at the
hospital by the coroner, Dr.
Keith Johnston. London.
Police were called to the
scene at 4:55 p.m.

Revise names for
Bayfield LACAC
Several Bayfield members
of the Huron County Branch
of the Architectural Con-
servancy of Ontario attended
the annual meeting at the
Falls Reserve Conservation
area on Wednesday of last
,week. They were greatly
impressed with the beauty of
the park which is part of the
3,014 square kilometres
under the jurisdiction of the
Maitland Valley Con-
servation Authority.

After a delightful picnic
supper a brief business
meeting was held, when
reports were received from
the LACAC committees in
Huron County. From
Bayfield it was reported that
the Ratepayers' Association
has presented the Village
Council with a list of names
for a revised LACAC com-
mittee which will meet in the
near future.
Guest speaker was Mrs.
Lobb of Clinton, who as a
Collegiate student in
Goderich had been engaged
as one of a team of students
to research the history of
Ben Miller under the
guidance of Mr. Jack
McLaren a Ben Miller
resident. Mr. McLaren was
promoting ideas for newly
formed Huron County
Historical Society to en-
courage historical research
in the secondary schools. Mr.
Charles Kalblfelsch a history
teacher at the Goderich
Collegiate.. gavehis support
of the plan. Mrs. Lobb's
account of how first
knowledge of Ben Miller's
history was obtained through
interviews and archival
research was most in-
teresting.

Lingard.. went out of control
on the Crediton Road west of
concession 6-7 of Stephen
and struck a hydro pole.
The local dentist and his
wife. Pauline. were taken to
South 'Huron Hospital for
treatment.
Constable Frank Giffin in-
vestigated and set total
damage at $4.500.
There was one accident on
Friday. it occurring on
Highway 21 south of
Highway 83. involving
vehicles driven by Doris M.
Byers. London. and Tracy A.
Landrey. RR 1 Dashwood.
The latter was entering
the highway from a private
drive and was in collision
with the northbound London
car.
Constable Al Quinn set
damage at $1.3(0.
The other collision was
reported on Thursday near
the post office on,Wellington
St. in Hensall. involving
vehicles driven by Earl W.
Love and Darlene 1.1yl. both
of Hensall.
The Uyl vehicle was pull-
ing out of a parking spot and

• Amendment No. 21 to the
Official Plan for the County of Huron
Planning Area:
The Township of Hay Secondary Plan
a) PURPOSE OF THE MEETING
A public meeting to consider a draft Secon-
dary Plan for the Township of Hay was held
October 16, 1978. Since that time, several
requests for changes to the Land Use
Schedules "B" and "C" have been received,
and several changes to the text of the plan
are also being considered. The purpose of
this meeting is to publicly review these
proposed changes.
b) PROPOSED CHANGES
Following is a summary of the changes to
the Land Use Schedules "B"and "C" and to
the text, which are being considered:
SCHEDULE "B"
i) Part lot 8, Lake Road West Concession -
change from "Restricted Agriculture" to
"Recreational" to permit expansion of an
existing mobile home park.
ii) Part lot 12, Lake Road West Concession -
changer from "Restricted Agriculture" to
"Recreational" to permit future develop-
ment.
iii) Part lots 21 through 28, Lake Road West
Concession - change from "Restricted
Agriculture" to "Recreational" to permit
future development.
iv) South West part lot 10, Lake Road East
Concession - change from "Restricted
Agriculture" to Urban to recognize ex-
isting residential and commercial uses.
v) West part lot 15, Concession 15 - change
from "Natural Environment" to
"Recreational" to permit the establish-
ment of a recreational vehicle park.
vi) Part lot 2 and 3, South Boundary
Concession - change from "Restricted
Agriculture" to "Urban" to permit future
residential development.
SCHEDULE "C"
i) Extension of "Core Area" policy zone one
block westerly along Helen Street to Elma
Street.
TEXT CHANGES
Section 3.3c - AGRICULTURE
c)iii) - to retain Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 soils for
agricultural and agriculturally related
purposes. •
d)viii) - all farm operations as well as non-
farm buildings and structures will com-
ply with the minimum distance separa-
tion provisions of the Agricultural
Code of Practice.
d)ix) Restricted Agriculture - rewriting of
this section to clarify the intent of this
policy area is proposed.
d)x) Provisions of adequate sewage dis-
posal and water supply services for
rural small holdings.
Section 3.4.d) -
NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
1) clearing, except as permitted by the
Huron County Tree Cutting By-law
will be prohibited.
Section 3.5.c.2 - DASHWOOD
iv) - lot sizes of 8500 square feet (790
square meters) will be permitted when
municipal water service -is supplied.
Section 3.6.d) -
EXTRACTIVE RESOURCES
vi) (New Section) - Ready mix and asphalt
plants will be permitted conditional upon
proper zoning, and a development agree-
ment with the Township.
Section 3.8.2.1 INSTITUTIONAL
This section has been rewritten to permit
utility corridors to establish either by plan
amendment or by a review under the En-
vironmental Assessment Act.
Section 5 - LAND DIVISION POLICY
2(vii ) - consents must conform to the
minimum distance separation provisions of
the Agricultural Code of Practice.
3(a)i) - both the severed and retained
parcels must be viable units.
3(a)vi) - conveyances for mortgage or
charge purposes for the establishment of
residences for full-time labour necessary to
operate the farm.
Section 6.2 INTERPRETATION
iii) (New Section) - A section, to outline how
the boundaries of "Natural Environment"
areas will be defined, is proposed.
c) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
