Mrs. Brownlee of Kippen
and Brucefield, respectively,
was in town on Sunday
visiting theSabbathSchool of
the Evangelical Church.
The local water supply in
the village of Zurich has
underwent a number of
repairs and improvements,
and is now in good working
condition. The streets will
also be sprinkled twice a
week with George Thiel
receiving the contract for the
work.
The employees of the Hall
Dent Company enjoyed their
annual picnic on Monday at
Grand Bend.
The strawberry crops are
very good this season, with
the berries selling at only 15
cents a box.
About fifty young people
from Dashwood enjoyed
themselves at a wiener roast
at Drysdale beach last
Monday.
30 Years Ago
A happy event took place
in Zurich on Sunday, when
Rev. Father Richard Bedard
celebrated his first Solemn
High Mass at St. Boniface,
Church. The occasion was an
outstanding one, since
Father Bedard was the first
boy of the Parish to be or-
dained as a Priest.
Strawberries are in full
supply now, and the crop is
exceptionally good, but for
the scarcity of sugar one
could preserve an ample
supply of this choice food.
Progress is being made in
the new residence of Mr. and
Mrs. R.F. Stade, in town.
The brick work is now
nearing completion, and
when finished this will be a
very comfortable home.
The many friends of
Father L. Powers are indeed
happy to see him in town
over the weekend, and
looking so good. ` Albert G. Hess, while
sitting out in front of his
cottage at the lake the other
day, noticed a flock of at
least 150 wild geese flying
over.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thiel
attended the 25th wedding
anniversary of Mrs. Thiel's
sister in London on Saturday
evening.

Dr. and Mrs. W.B. Coxon
spent several days last week
at Jackson, Michigan at-
tending the Michigan State
University Medical Con-
ference.
The Westlake Furniture of
town have now occupied
their new building erected on
Main Street, just west
of the Insurance block and
east of the Hess Jewellery
store.
Mrs. Jacob Kipfer andMrs.
Chris Gascho spent several
days with friends and
relatives at Baden, Kit-
chener and Tavistock.

Mr. Leroy O'Brien had an
operation at St. Jopseph's
Hospital, London, and is
expected home one of these
days.. We are very pleased
Leroy is getting along so
well.

The council of the
Township of Hay are giving
serious considerations to the
idea. of renovating the
Township Hall in Zurich, so
it could be used for the
clerk's office, as well as a
meeting place.
On Thursday evening a
picnic supper was enjoyed in
the basement of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church by the
Junior choir, the con-
firmants and the ,church
councillors.
Exeter and District branch
of the Canadian Cancer
Society has exceeded again
its campaign quota of $3500.
Miss Sharon Bloch who is
employed at Grand Bend,
spent several days at the
home of her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Bloch.
The children, grand-
children, and great grand-
children of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Gascho, Zurich,
met at the cottage of Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Gascho for a
reunion.
Evangelical U.B. Church,
Zurich decorated with

and red snap dragons with
ferns, was the setting for the
marriage of Erla Cealiea
Hay and Eric Smale, Hen-
sall.
Hay crash

fell off and it rolled over in
the ditch en concession 2-3 of
Stephen south of Huron Park
at 2:30 a.m., Sunday.
Constable Giffin in-
vestigated and set damage to
collision was investigated by
Constable Whiteford at 5:00
a.m., Monday. Kenneth
Denomme, 17 Mary Street,
Zurich, had been proceeding
northon concession 8-9 of
Hay when the vehicle went
out of control and rolled over
on its roof south of Highway
84.
Damage was listed at
$2,200.
A hit and run was repor-
ted, Saturday, when a car
owned by Ron Funston, RR 3
Granton, was struck by an
unknown vehicle while
parked in Crediton. Con-
stable Ed Wilcox listed
damage at $250.
The other collision oc-
curred last Tuesday when
vehicles operated by
Michael Gardner, Michigan,.
and Evelyn Gaudry, Grand
Bend, collided at the en-
trance of the Shipka drive-in
theatre. Damage was set at
$25 by Constable Jim
Rogers.
