Departing from Zurich Public School Wednesday were Joey Keller, Nellie Goud, Leila Stewart and Tammy Restemeyer. Despite rains, over 400 have great time at CWL barbecue In spite of the un- )redictable weather; a good, ime was had by all at the S.W.L. barbeque on Sunday. The day consisted of a )aseball game at 2:00 p.m. Zurleh Caramel Sweeney ncluding both parents and Children and even our pastor Father Mooney. People lined up for a ielicious meal at 4:00 p.m. ncluding hot chicken, ;clads, greens, pies and a 3everage. There were picnic tables xitside for those who wanted hem and while it rained :here was music and seating irea in the gym where everyone conversed with one inother. Approximately 450 3eople were fed. A big thanks to everyone who helped. It takes a good ievoted league and parishioners to make a 3arbeque a success. IPS graduates Twenty grade 8 students 'rom the public school held :heir graduation last Tuesday with a dinner for :hem, along with their Barents and teachers. Brownies conclude Last Thursday the Brownies held a pot luck Supper for mothers and iaughters in the Lutheran Thurch hall. As an end of the Season program, some of the girls received badges and golden bars. Take mystery tour Twelve of our senior 2itizens enjoyed going on a "Mystery Tour" last Wednesday for the day Sponsored . by the Exeter Lions club where they were taken to Port Huron . and ;urroundings. Personals Gerard and Vickie Ducharme of Wyoming spent from Saturday to Monday visiting with relatives in the area. Beth Sweeney' is presently staying with her Aunt Carol Des Marais for a week in Oil Springs. She will then go onto Windsor to visit with relatives for awhile. Mozart and Julie Gelinas enjoyed themselves at a two day marriage encounter convention held in Arva at the Medway high school on Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Josie Dietrich and Mrs. Agnes Regier returned home last Friday from a four day bus trip to Brooktondale New York where they also visited with relatives. On the occasion of their 37th wedding anniversary, Ken and Dorothy Breakey were happy to have as visitors, her brother and his wife, Ben'and Dot Corless of Minden, Ontario. Congratulations to Jichard Fisher and Deborah Elliott who were married on Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran church. Mrs. Mary McKinnon along with daughters, Elaine of Gorrie; Edith Plourde of RapusKasingandsisterMary Camillus oPenetang will be leaving from Toronto tomorrow for a two week trip to Ireland. Miss Rose -Marie Overholt of London will be spending the summer months with her grandparents, Mozart and Marie Gelinas, and will commute to her job in Grand Bend. Congratulations to Joe and Anne Miller who celebrated their 30th wedding an- niversary on the weekend. Dominion Day holiday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Flaxbard were their son, Gary and his wife Betty and children from Kit- chener, also daughter Ruth - Ann Flaxbard from London. Several relatives from - town attended the 25th wedding anniversary celebration of Paul and Shirley. Durand in London on Saturday (son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Durand.) Mr. and Mrs. Clare Masse, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Masse and Mr. and Mrs. Elzar Masse all attended the wedding of a nephew in Beachburg on the long weekend. Mrs. Joan Bedard has taken up residence at the Senior apartment in Zurich. Spending a holiday with her grandmother is Pamela Webster from Espanola. Bob, Mary and Terri Farquhar spent the long weekend visiting with her brother, Ed and Denise Webster and family in Espanola. Ferd and Alice Haberer returned home on Monday after spending two weeks with their daughter Arlene Meyer and family in New Hamburg. Welcome back to Pastor Jack and Eileen Dressler who have been away for Staff photo three weeks. They attended the. Lutheran Synod Eastern Conference in Halifax for a week, then spent the next two weeks vacationing around Nova Scotia. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pascuzzo of Strathroy spent lastThursday afternoon with Mrs. Marie Pask. They took her for a most enjoyable drive. Graduation at Saint Boniface On Wednesday 29 students , from St. Boniface Parish held graduation. Af ter celebrating a lovely mass with guitar and organ music a program was held over at the school. The C.W.L. presented the graduates with rosaries. The Knights of Columbus awarded for the most , improved students a monastery gift to both Daniel Creces, and Deborah Ducharme. For the most academic student Gregory Hartman received the award. Paul Overholt won the award for Citizenship and Jeff LaPorte_ for the most congenial - student. Require contestants for queen contest The dates July 18, 19, 20 are soon approaching. The Zurich Fair again will be a super show. Many fun things are being planned. Among those is a talent programme for a Friday evening per- formance beginning at 8 p.m. Our programme will consist of a skit performed by our Zurich 4-H beef and dairy calf club, members. Other specialities will be piano, accordian, guitar numbers along with singing and tap dancing. Our local young per- formers really display their talent that night. Zurich can really be proud of its young people. Come and show your interest. Also that evening is our Zurich Fair Queen contest. Girls age 14 to 21 may enter the contest.
