Graham saidthe township

last year including a gravel
pit plus they have set aside
funds for the purchase of a
new road grader.

Kinsmen Club will be held
next year.
Chairman Wayne Reid
termed 1980 as a :test yeast'
for the contest following a
slight drop in attendance the
previous year. -
He expressed satisfaction
• about this year's event with
over 440 spectators viewing
the finals Saturday evening.
Reid paid tribute to the ef-
forts of all the volunteers
including the Kinsmen, the
Kinettes, the K-40 club and
the Hensall Cub. pack for
making the tenth annual
fiddler's contest a success.
In the highlight of the
evening, Raymond Schryer
of Sault Ste. Marie captured
the Ward . Allan Memorial
trophy for the top placing in
the open category. •.

and 55 saw area mien capture
the two top spots.
Carl MacNaughton of
Lucan won the division with
Willis Des jardine of Dash-
wood second. Rockey Nash of
Thornhill placed third.
In the 55 to 70 division Fred
Harburn of Staffahad a" third
place. finish with Reg Freer
of Kerwood in the top
position. Al Smith of Minden
placed second. Also com-
peting , in this category was
Bill Harvey of Exeter.
Winning the 70 plus fid-
dling contest was 75 year old
James McCrory of St.
Thomas. Alfred Renaud of
Windsor and John Farrish of
Listowel of placed second
and third.
. Taking the novelty fid-
dligng category was John
Crozman of London while
Elizabeth Woods was tops
among the lady fiddlers.
For the step dancing fans,
two sisters from Watford
took top honours in two of the
three categories.
Judy Willoughby was tops
in the 9-12 age bracket
while Cindy Willoughby
finished_ firstin the 13-25 age
group.
Taking second arid third
spots in the 9-12 grouping
were, Paul Greenwood of
Mitchell and Jeffrey Bender
of Watford. Janice
McMichael of Wroxeter and
Kim Craig of Blyth hid same
placings in the 13-25 group.
For the dancers under the
age of nine, Jodi Greenwood_
of Mitchell finished first,
Leanne Borko of Kitchener
placed second and Nicole St.
Pierre of Wyoming took the
third spot.
Dancing her way to the
title In the 25 and over
division was Grace Hymers-
Carter of . Stratford. Murray
Currah of Bright's Grove
was runner-up.
Two of the busiest people
on the stage at Hensall were
not entered in the com-
petition. Providing a
professional touch to the
announcing duties was
Johnny Brent, formerly of
CKNX, W•ingham.
Accompanying the step
dancers were the father and
daughter combo pf Gerry
and Linda Smith of Exeter.
Smith also competed in the
open competition.
