Dear Sir:
I would like to compliment
Mrs. Whilsmith on a well
written article concerning the
influence alcohol has on out-
lives.
urlives. However, I feel her
apology to the Jr. Farmers
was less than genuine.
They are much too wide
awake to miss the point of
her story and agreed whole
heartedly with her theme.
They felt it very unfair that
the story singled our Jr.
Farmers. A special thanks to
the Times Advocate for front
page coverage of this
organization turning over
money for a community
project. .
Let's hope one picture is
worth a thousand words.
Good luck to the Jr. Farmers.

Don Shipley, Artistic Direc-

welcome the exclusive Cana-
dian Premiere of Tina Howe's
zestful new play, Painting

1985.
Winner of seven major
awards during its recent
blockbuster run off-

talents of Donald Davis,
Florence Paterson and Nan-
cy Palk under the direction of
Hutchison Shandro. The show

This premiere marks the on-
ly presentation 'of this new
work in the 84/85 Canadian
theatre season.
Painting Churches opened
off-Broadway in February,
1983 to rave reviews. The fifth
work by author Tina Howe,
the play is characterized by
elements of farce and absur-
dity, familiar in some degree,
to all her plays. Painting
Churches tells the story of a
young artist who comes to
terms with her Brahmin
Boston parents through the
completion of a long-awaited
family portrait. Her spirited
homecoming is the heart of
this exhuberant, moving play.
Director Hutchison Shan-
dro, who has directed in pro-
fessional theatres across the
country as well as over 75 pro-
ductions at the National
Theatre School and several
colleges and universities, was
