T -A photo Clandeboye Institute meets The December meeting 01 the Clandeboye Women's In- stitute was -held at the home of Mrs. Gerald Lynn with fif- teen members answering the roll call, "A Ilappy Christmas Memory". President Elsie Lewis, read the story of Christmas from the Scriptures followed by everyone singing several of the favorite Christmas carols with Ruth Hill as pianist. Christmas readings were given by Mary Scott, Ruth Hill, Hazel Williams and Marion Hodgson. A skit. The Tater Meeting" was presented with Betty Coughlin. Jean Hodgins. Hazel Cunningham and June Henry participating. Hazel also gave a Chrisfmas reading. During the business it was decided to donate Janis and Jellies • to the Erland Lee Home. for sale in their General Store next June. but no one seemed interested in a bus trip to the homestead, contemplated by the North Middlesex District W. 1. at that time. WILLIAM ROHN[ The auditorium of the Thames Road United Church was tastefully decorated along with a prettily lighted tree for the Third Sunday in Advent Church Service Sun- day morning with Rev. Robert Matheson in charge. He told the children a story entitled "Lighting the Shepherds Candle" Rev. Robert Matheson lit three candles in the Advent wreath, the first one the Prophecy Candle, the second one the Bethlehem Candle and the third one the Shepherds candle. The choir sang two an- thems, "The Star" and "The Christmas Angel" accom- panied by the organist Miss Agnes Bray. The Scripture Lesson was read from Isaiah 61: 1-4.8-11, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24, John 1:6-8, 19-28. The sermon was entitled "Among Those Who Come Before". Isaiah: Who is the Suffering Servant (to be)? Isaiah identifies himself with that role - he often feels like a yo-yo with his own ups and downs with life. Could be Israel as a nation.
