IRVIN RADII Dashwood Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid members and guests enjoyed a Christmas dinner Tuesday evening, December 11 catered to be the catering group. There were 22 members and 15 guests pre- sent. A business meeting followed with president Mrs. Florence Martene in charge. The Altar Guild reported 19 visits and one flower sent. The new Guild is Mrs. Gordon Kraft and Mrs. Dave Rader. Shut-in boxes were packed Sunday, December 16. Group conveners gave their yearly report on activities which showed a busy season. The flower and treat secretary reported a balance on hand. A group'of ladies sang German songs and the pastor TEAM PARADE — The Huron Park girls ringette team rode in Sunday's Santa Claus parade at Centralia. Sun shines brightly for Centralia event By MRS. TOM KOOY Centralia The sun shone brightly for the annual Santa Claus parade Sunday. at noon with 17 floats participating. Congratulation to those who makes this parade possible each year. Candy was given to all, along the route. They continued on to Huron Park where more candy was given out. Lawrence and Mildred Hirtzel attended a pre - Christmas family dinner at the home of their son Mr. and Mrs. Bev Hirtzel and family. Sunday. ' • Mrs. Minnie Harrison did lots of entertaining the past week. Mrs. Audrey Dixon, Hensall spent a couple of days with her mother. Sandra Dix- on and friend Sharon spent Wednesday with grandma and Wendy Dixon, Stratford, and friend James spent Sunday. The Faith Tabernacle youth group went caroling Monday evening to many Nursing and Rest Homes including Huron--. view Horne at Clinton and others. On retur- ning home they called on Wesley's sister and husband - Mr. and Mrs. Jim Coates in Mississauga. a German solo. Many receiv- ed violets in draws. Bunco was played with winners Mrs. Emilie Miller and Joe Bruce; low, Mrs. Hubert Miller and Gordon Kraft. U.('. W. Dashwood United Church Women's president, Mrs. Don Gaiser welcomed members and guests to the December meeting Tuesday, December 11. A delicious pot luck supper was enjoyed by everyone. Mrs. Syd Baker, Mrs. Margaret Carroll and Mrs. Hugh Boyle were in charge of the program for the evening. A Christmas playlet was presented with Mrs. Hugh Boyle introducing the citst: Rev. Barbara Laing, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weber, Mrs. Harold Hendrick, Mrs. Gary Tiernan and Hugh Boyle. • Several Christmas Carols were sung with Mrs. Ken McCrae accompanying on the piano. The remainder of the evening was spent playing Court Whist. Winners were Mrs. Greta Schade, Mrs. Everett Haist, Syd Baker and Mrs. Dill Chandler. Men's ('lub Dashwood Men's Club held the annual Christmas dinner and meeting Monday, December 10 with 40 members and 38 guests pre- sent. Following dinner, presi- dent. Don Weigand conducted a short meeting. Tom Hayter introduced the guest speaker, Karen Campbell, Horne Economist for the Ontario Turkey Board, who_ stressed turkey any time, not just twice a year. Progressive euchre was played Stith prizes going to 14Irs. Ken Baker, high; Mrs. Albert Rader, low; Harold Finkbeiner, men's high and Don Weigand, low. The even- ing was enjoyed by all. Eleanor Salmon, Nigeria, is home for. the Christmas vacation. Seniors enjoying trip Eighteen seniors from / Dashwood accompanied by members from Grand Bend, Crediton, Exeter and Zurich enjoyed a bus trip to Hamilton to see the Geritol Follies' Christmas program. This is a group of seniors whose performances are at- tended by many. Their costumes are beautiful. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Southcott, Southcoll Pines, were Thursday evening visitors with Mrs. Irvin Rader. Maryann and Shannon Boyle are spending the winter with Mr. and Mrs. Willner Desjardine. Poinsettias on the altar of Zion Lutheran church were placed by Mr. and .Mrs. Wilmer Pfaff who were celebrating their 25th wed- ding anniversary. Aaron Peter, infant son of Peter and Irene Datars was baptized in Zion Lutheran church Sunday by Rev. M. Mellecke. Sponsors are Howard and Elaine Datars. Carollers The Lutheran and United church choirs were Carolling Thursday night with 18 members present. They call- ed at 15 .homes, returning to the Lutheran e.hurch for lunch. The evening was en- joyed by all. Christmas party The Men's club sponsored Christmas entertainment for children Saturday at the com- munity centre with a good crowd in attendance. Santa Claus arrived following the gifts of candy and chocolate milk. The fifty-fifty draw took . place with winners, Greg Hamilton, Zurich, Jeff Oesch, Zurich; and Heather Wragg, Dashwood. Dashwood & District Business Association draw was held with the winners, first, Helen Kadey, Huron Park: second, Lloyd Lem - mon, RR :3 Exeter: third, Robert Vanderhoek, Zurich. Sharon Bennett and Nathan returned to Lethbridge. Alberta, Saturday.
