The Lion That Wouldn't -
Rooms 10. 12, 8 and 9 went to
London Tuesday December 4.
Three buses took them to
Althouse College. At the play
there were over 1,000 children
there. Teddy thought it was a

from Kindergarten to grade 8
was given a sheet for fund
raising. Everyone had to

activity highlights
November 30, the Huron -
Perth R.C.S.S. board held a
girls volleyball tournament. at
St. Aloysius School in Strat-
ford. Six teams from schools
across the county par-
ticipated in the tournament:
Goderich, Hesson, Kinkora.
St. Michael's, St. Mary's and
Mt. Carmel.
In Mt. Carmel's first game
they split the set of two games
with the Goerich team. Soon
after the school spirit grew
from nervousness to en-
thusiasm as two games were
won from Kinkora. Again ex-
citement accelerated as they
won another set of games
competing against Hesson.
Yet unknown to them they
were soon to lose to St. Mike's
in both games. As a little of
the enthusiasm diminished
the team again played a set
which they lost to St. Mary's.
St. Mary's eventually work-
ed their way to first place, St.
Mikes's placed second and
Onderich came in third.
With satisfaction the teams
left the school tired but not
discouraged, filled with
lasting memories of that day

Volley hall - November 30,
the Huron • Perth Catholic
school hoard held a girls
volleyball tournament. Six
teams from schools across
the county attended:
Goderich. [lesson, Kinkora.
St. Michael's St.Marys's and
Mt. 'Carmel.
In Mt. Carmel's first game
they split the set of two games
with Goderich. Soon after the
team spirit grew from ner
vousness to enthusiasm as
two games were won from
Kinkora.
Again excitement ac-
celerated as they won another
set of games competing
against Hesson. Yet unknown
to them they were soon to lose
to Sl. Mike's in both games.
Asa little of the enthusiasm
diminished the team again
played a set which they lost to
St. Mary's. St. Mary's even-
tually worked their way to
first place, St. Mike's placed
second and Goderich had
come in third.
With a satisfactory fourth
the team left the school tired
but not discouraged. filled
with the lasting memory of
that day.
The Mt. Carmel team
members who represented
their school were Laura

7 and 8 class.

Student Council Activities -
In the last student council
meeting we discussed the
Christmas Activities. During
the Christmas month several
activites are planned. The
student council has a box for
the Christmas drop-off for the
unfortunate. We will accept
any canned goods. good
clothing a►1d gtxxl toys. This
program has heen very suc-
cessful so far this year. This
year we are again having a
door -decorating contest.
This year we will have a
winter carnival, if there is
enough snow, so let's a l l hope
for snow everybody.
We sold magazines again.
We were successful at
reaching our goal. and sold
more rnagazines than ever.

piano when students from Precious Blood, Exeter,
visited the Blue Water Rest Home.
SANTA CLAUS

sometimes. Santa is a jolly
fellow Santa is a jolly fellow
when he eats. Santa deer's
like his slaigh. Santa said Ho!
Ho! Ho! merry Christmas
ing: not participating or par-
ticipating. We could sell giant
colouring books, gift shop or
cheese. For every ten people
you sold to you got your name
in the drawing box. You could
win a football, traffic lights,
your own telephone or more.
The profits will be used to pay
for various student activities
such as achievement bars,
etc.

Mrs. Atthill - Mrs. Atthill
had a baby girl Wednesday,
November 28. They named
her Mallory Katherine.
Mallory was born at St.
Joseph's Hospital. Con-
gratulations Mrs. Atthill.

Decorating the Tree - At
school we are decorating our
Christmas tree. Room 6 peo-
ple are Stacey Thurman and
Laurie Finkbeiner, room five
people are Kristy Dobson and
Darren Mason and room four
are Angela Zielman and Rob-
bie Desjardine. On our first
day we made dough and then
we painted them. There were
angels, snowmen, Santa
Claus and holly leaves. For
the rest of the week we were
wrapping boxes, making or-
naments for the tree, and
stringing popcorn. Friday we
decorated the tree. I think
that this group was a lot of fun
and I wouldn't mind doing
this again sometime.

The Lion Who Wouldn't -
Grades 1. 2 and 3 went to a
play in London at Althouse
College. They went on buses.
The bus drivers were Jim
Laye and Pauline Guenther.
The play was called "The
Lion Who Wouldn't" The lion
wouldn't do as his trainer
said. The lion wanted to he
something else. Ile tried to be
a baseball pitcher but he lost
the game and was fired. Next
he tried to be a teacher but he
couldn't do number facts and
so he was fired.
Then he tried to be a sailor
but he became sea sick and he
was fired. When he tried lobe
a detective like 007 he ar-
rested the bank manager and
so he was fired. Lastly he
tried to be an actor but he us-
ed a banana for a gun and so
he was fired. Ile finally decid-
ed to go hack to the circus. He
thought he was best at being
a lion. Carrie enjoyed the
costumes particularly the lion
costume. Gail liked the jokes
they played. Heather liked it
when the lights went out.
Bryan thought the piano
player was good. Everyone in
Room 9 enjoyed the play.

The First Christmas Day -
.Jesus was born on the firs(
Christmas Day in a stable in
Bethlehem The shepherds
came to see the baby. The
Wise Men brought him
presents.

Volleyball Tournament -
Friday. December 7 it was
the regional volleyball tour-
nament. The girls went to .1
A 1) McCurdy while the boys
went to Exeter. Hensall won
in both the boys and girls
competitions. Stephen girls
got second place and for the
boys Exeter won second.

Room Two Report - Last
week we handed in our
Christmas Art It was worth
30 marks. We had a choice;
we could either do a wire
decoration, a picture. or sew
something on a potato sack.
We all got very good marks.
We have started to do our
Science Project. It is on Solu-
tions. The first part is worth
25 marks. It is on the Uses of
Solutions. The second part is
worth 75 marks It is like a
test
