Santa Claus has dilemma
By Mark Rothbauer
J.A.D McCurdy. Grade 7
Santa do you want to wear
your red suit or your green
suit?" inquired Mrs. Claus.
"For a change, I will wear
my green one" answered
Santa.
That night Mrs. Claus got
out Santa's green suit from
the bottom of Santa's clothes
trunk. It looked horrible!!
The fur was all grey and all
the pockets were torn off.
"Santa, sorry but you will
nave to wear your red one
because the green suit is all
tattered!" yelled Mrs. Claus
from their bedroom.
"Why can't you just send it
to the tailor's shop?" asked
Santa.
"O.k. 1 will call Timmy the
Tailor in the morning,"
answered Mrs. Claus.

During breakfast the next
day, Santa told Mrs. Claus
that he was going to retire.
"What do you mean, you
are going to retire!??! ex-
claimed Mrs. Claus.
"1 mean exactly what I
said!" cried Santa.
"If you want to be that way
take your own suit to the
tailor!" commanded Mrs.
Claus.
"O.k. 1 will take my own
suit to the tailors but don't ex-
pect me home for lunch or
supper!" scolded Santa.
That night. Mrs. Claus sat
down trying to think up an ex-
cuse so that Santa would not
retire. While Mrs. Claus was
thinking up an excuse, she
burst out in tears.
While in the park where
Santa was setting sulking he
realized that it he did retire he
could keep the money he was
making instead of paying the
elves. H ealso then burst out
in tears. Then suddenly San-
ta stood up and ran all the
way home. When he got there
Mrs. Claus was still crying.
"It's alright dear, I'm sorry
if 1 upset you," sulked Santa.
"But 1 am sill retiring.
After that statemetn all
that Mrs. Claus did wsa cry
even louder.
Christmas Eve Santa was
1 up in his bedroom lying down
half asleep. Then someone
knocked on the door.
"Can you get that dear, "
yelled Santa, "Oh ya, I forget
that you aren't talking to
me." -
1t was the Mayor, the elves
and Mrs. Claus. Santa invited
them a l l in They had come to
try to convience Santa not to
ret ire. -

A NIGHT TO
REMEMBER
By Danny Heckey
J.A.U. McCurdy. Grade 7
Once upon a time, there
was a little mouse that lived
at the North Pole. He lived
with Santa haus. Well I'll let
him tell ou about his
adventure.
One night I was suddenly
awakened by someone. l went
to see who it was when sud-
denly 1 heared heavy
footsteps. I ran and hid in a
big red bag. A big chubby guy
who was dressed in red, black
and white came and picked up
the bag. 1 was frightened. Ile
went and put the big sack in
a sled and flew off.
We stopped at many houses
and put presents under trees.
1 was getting tired very tired
of this so I said to myself this
is where I'll get off! ! !
When he set down his bag I
jumped out and hid. When he
left 1 looked around the house
for a new home for .myself.
Finally I found a cosy little
home in the corner of their
living room. I hope life will
not be so hectic in this new
home.

For boy it's lots of fun too,
There's things for the whole
family to,do.
For supper there's delicious
food to eat,
While staring through the
window at the sleet.
So you see Christmas is fun,
And happiness all in one.

Empty stocking
By Tracy Day, Grade 7
J.A.1), McCurdy
"The stockings were hung
by the chimney with care, in
hopes that St. Nicholas soon
would be there". This is the
thought that went through
Tara's head as she hung her
stocking next to the others.
Tara was an orphan, and
she Lived in the home with the
other children. The people
who took care of the orphan's
always did their hest at
Christmas. Mr. and Mrs.
McMaster always had enough
to go around.
This year as Tara hung her
stocking she dreamed about
families and puppies. That
night she fell asleep praying
for a family or a puppy.
When Tara woke up the
next morning all she found in
her stocking was a note. It
said Dear Tara.
I'm sorry 1 ran out of toys.
Meet me in the classroom
after breakfast
xoxoxoxo Santa.
Tara sat in her place at the
table. She thought breakfast
would never end. When it was
finally over. Mrs. McMaster
asked Tara to get her a pen.
from the classroom. Tara
entered the room and saw
three people sitting in the
corner.
One of them was Santa. He
called her over and said,
"Tara, I want you to meet
Our present. She couldn't
belive it. Somebody had
adopted her. -
They brought her a warm
squirmy puppy too.
She was so happy. She ran
to Santa and thanked him.
Then Tara ran to her new
family and hugged them. It
was a Christmas she would
never forget!

MY THOUGHTS
ON CHRISTMAS
By Bill Kelly
Grade 8 St. Patrick's, Lucan
On Christmas Day we
celebrate the coming' of
Jesus. This child was pro-
mised by God as a Saviour for
all mankind. He was born of
the Virgin Mary in a lowly
Bethlehem stable. This child
Jesus son of God was to suf-
fer beyond our belief.
As we understand, Jesus
was raised almost the same
as you and I like an normal
child. However He Himself
knew what lie ahead of him.
Why would God send his only
son knowing such strife and
suffering was what the future
held!
God's love of mankind was
so great that there was
nothing he wouldn't do to save
man. The Christ Child made
a humble entrance into the'
world. December 25th is 11is
birthday and we should pay
Him due homage.
Remembering the true
meaning of Christmas and the
outcome of the ('hrist Child's
life should ban indication to
us where we could be headed
if we take the "Christ" out of
Christmas.
