The Christmas meeting for
senior citizens took the form
of a delicious turkey dinner
served and prepared by the
Legion auxiliary in the Legion
hall, Monday December 3.
After singing "0 Canada"
the business was conducted
by president Mildred Thom-
son. It was decided to give the
Legion $150 for use of their
hall during the year which is
much appreciated. The cook
books were on sale for $5 each
and met with a good response.
Mildred Thomson gave the
president's report for the
year. This report told of ac-
tivities during 1984. The many
details showed the hard work
and thought in arranging for
and carrying out of the many
events which took place and
showed the thought which had
gone into all this work by the
whole executive committee
and all who took part in them.
A hearty vote of thanks was
offered to Mildred and all of -
Jficers for their work during
the year. A donation was
given to the Family and
Children's Services and $100
to U.S.C.O. We were urged to

Riverview members
tell of festive customs
By ALICE DICKENS
Aliso Craig
Riverview Women's In-
stitute held their annual
Christmas pot -luck luncheon
December 4 at the Masonic
hall in Ailsa Craig. A good
number of members and
visitors enjoyed a bountiful
meal to start off the
afternoon.
Food and decorating ar-
rangements were taken care
of by Evelyn McNaughton
and her committee.
Everywhere there were signs
of Christmas.
Tables looked very pretty
with Christmas tablecloths
and napkins, candles,
wreaths, Santa etc. Each per-
son brought a gift for a child
at the Salvation Army. (
President, Lorna Priestley`
opened the meeting in the
usual manner, then thanked
the visitors for coming, also
Evelyn for the decorations.
Gertsude Rosser read a let-
ter written to God from each
of two very young boys
( teenage) lamenting some of
the sad conditions in the world
today and hoped they could
call on Him again for help.
Margaret Wilson called the
roll call which was answered
by a Christmas tradition in
your home! The motto "Keep
Christ in Christmas" was
prepared by Nola McEwen
and read by Lorraine Neil
which was well written and
well read for us to stand firm
in the true meaning of
Christmas. With Gertrude
picking some Christmas
carols and Jean Lee at the
piano, everyone sang a nice
sing -song.
One part of the program
was the topic Christmas
customs in other lands, and
Mary Rees read an in-
teresting story of her
Christmas in Ireland, her
home country and well she
remembered them, even
though she wasn't very old
and their customs were
somewhat different.
