womens hockey team cap-
tured the 'B' championship ti-
tle in the Milverton Womens
Hockey Tournament on the
weekend defeating Huntsville
4-1 in the 'B' final.
The Pacers dropped a
heartbreaker 3-2 in double
overtime shoot-out to London
Nothers Trophies and then
advanced to the 'B' final by
defeating the Toronto
Featherweights 6-0 and
Milverton Calsgals 3-1.
Pacer goalie Nancy Bulmer
was chosen top goalie in the
tournament and Sandi
Fremlin, the Pacers steady
defenceman, was named
MVP.
The Huron Park girls re-
main the only undeteateo
team in the Western Ontario
Womens hockey loop with five
wins and three ties to date.

The Lucan Irish scored on-
ly one victory in three outings
this week in the OHA Junior
'D' loop. and dropped to third
place.
Wednesday, the Irish edged
the Exeter Hawks 6-5 and
then were beaten on the round
on two occasions. They lost a
high scoring contest 12-9 to
the Tavistock Braves, Friday
and Sunday last 7-3 to the Bel -

The Irish will be back in ac-
tion tonight, Wednesday when
they entertain the Seaforth
Centenaires at the Lucan
arena. Friday they travel to
Thamesford.
In Tavistock Friday, the
Irish felt behind the Braves
4-2 in the first period and
that's the closest they were
able to get.
Wayne Urbshott and Brent
Martin were the Lucan goal
getters in the opening period
while in the second Urbshott
fired his second and Jeff
Hodgins and Scott Balazs not-
ched singles.
Balazs was a double scorer
in the final 20 minutes to com-
plete the hat trick. Scoring in
single fashion were Jesse
Crawford and Steve Keane.
Kevin Albrecht and Terry
Ross led the Tavistock scor-
ing attack with four goals
each. In Belmont Sunday, the
Irish falling behind 7-0 after
two periods tried to make a
comeback, but, could only
score three times.
Steve Keane started the
Lucan scoring at 2:42 of the
third as he converted a pass
from Bob Thirlwall.
Shawn Schaefer notched
the second goal at 7:06 on a
pass from Jeff Hodgins and 43
seconds later, Jeff Hodgins
completed the Lucan scoring
on a pass provided by Rob
Hardy.
The games in Belmont and
Tavistock were penalty filled
with the Irish taking 22 of the
38 minor penalties in the
Bombers game and 21 of 46 in
Tavistock
Waxors, pas woos gst three points
The Exeter Waxers picked
up three of a possible four
points in two Shamrock
league hockey games this
week in the novice devislon.
Saturday, they played to a
3-3 tie with Strathroy and Sun-
day they scored a decisive 8-1
victory over Goderich.
In the tie with Strathroy,
Sean McCann notched his se-
cond goal of the game on an
unassisted effort with only a
minute and eight seconds to
go to put his club on even
terms.
McCann scored his first
goal on a similar effort as did
Ian Jean on the first score for
the Waxer.
Eight different players
scored goals as the Waxers
beat Goderich 8-1.
Hitting the Goderich net
were Ian Jean, Steve Cook,
Jamie van Dam, Ted Hoff-
man, Marty DeBruyn, Chris
McDonald, Sean McCann and
Steve Stire.
The top playmakers with
two assists each were Chris -
McDonald and Trevor Taylor.
Picking up single assists were
Marty DeBruyn, Ryan Kyle,
Sean McCann, Steve Stire,
Steve Cook, Ian Jean, Rob
Wagner and Jamie van Dam.
Win In house league
The Exeter atoms edged
Zurich 2-1 in a house league
hockey game, Saturday.
Mark McDonald was the
marksman on both Exeter
goals with Allan McFalls get-
ting an assist.
Pee wees win, tie
The Exeter pee wees gain-
ed three points in Shamrock
league play this week as they
were held to a 3-3 tie by
Strathroy and blanked
Parkhill 7-0.
In the tie with Strathroy,
Todd McCann was a douule
scorer for the pee wees. One
came as he converted a pass
from captain David O'Connor
and the second on a three-way
passing combination with
Mark Burton and Tim van
Dam.
The third Exeter score
came from the stick of Rob
McLelland with Burton and
van Dam providing the
assists.
Justin Charrette was the
only Exeterite to fire two suc-
cessful shots in the 7-0 shutout
over Parkhill. Scoring in
single fashion were David
O'Connor and Todd McCann.
Bantams split tourney
The Exeter bantams
defeated Kitchener by a 11-5
score in a touranment in Clin-
ton Friday and Saturday they
dropped a 4-2 decision to
Petrolia.
In Shamrock league play,
the locals defeated Parkhill
5-2.
In the relatively easy win
over Kitchener, Jeff Dalrym-
ple and Steve Anderson each
fired two successful shots.
Scoring in single fashion were
Jon O'Connor, Scott Bell,
Steve Lingard, Doug Clark,
Shawn Moore, Larry Lewis
and Jeff Hannah.
Jon O'Connor was best in
the playmaking department
with four assists. Assisting on
two scores apiece were Scott
Bell, Larry Lewis and Jeff
Mohawks continue
on winning streak
The Exeter Mohawks con-
tinued their winning ways in
the Western Ontario Athletic
Association intermediate
hockey league this week with
two more victories.
Friday in St. Clements with
only eight skaters, the
Mohawks doubled the score
6-3 over the St. Clements
Saints Sun+y on home ice
they defeated the Monkton
Wildcats 9-3.
The Mohawks are back in
action on two occasions this
coming week. Friday night at
8:30 p.m. they are at home at
the South Huron Rec Centre
to Drayton and Sunday they
travel to Lucknow.
In St. Clements, the
Mohawks fell behind 3-2 after
the first period of play, but
came on strong with four
unanswered scores in the
final two periods.
Pete Tuckey fired both Ex-
eter goals in the opening
period with Dave Bogart,
Brian Mercer and Terry
Caldwell providing the
assists.
In the first minute of the se-
cond session, Brian Mercer
notched the equalizing goal on
a pass from Pete Tuckey and
captain Jim Guenther tallied
what proved to be the winner
at 12:25.
Later in the middle stanza,
Tuckey converted a pass
from Bogart on a power play
and in the final period, Dave
Kinsman scored the final Ex-
eter goal on a three-way pass-
ing effort with Brian Mercer
and Mark Cronyn.
Scoring for St. Clements
were Steve Hartman, Wilson
Cook and Darrell Kraemer.
Sunday night against
Monkton, the Mohawks used
the same pattern, coming on
strong after being held to a 2-2
tie in the first 20 minutes of
play.
The first period Exeter
marksmen were Jamie
Caldwell and Pete Tuckey.
Assisting were Marty Wraith,
Terry Caldwell and Ken
Varley.
The only goal of the middle
period came from the stick
of Jamie Caldwell with passes
provided by Ken Varley and
Terry Caldwell.
The Mohawks broke the
game wide open with five last
period scores. Five different
players took part in the scor-
ing. They were Brian Mercer,
Tom Ryan, Irian Baker,
Mark Cronyn and Terry
Caldwell.
Mercer was the top setup
man with three assists. Mark
Cronyn was next with two
assists and Dave Atthill, Rick
Lindenfield, Dave Bogart,
Dave Jackson, Jamie
Caldwell and Marty Wraith
gained single assists.
Dalrymple. Helping on one
goal each were Steve
Lingard, Doug Clark and
Steve Anderson.
In the 4-2 loss to Petrolia,
captain Jon O'Connor was
responsible for both Exeter
goals with assists provided by
Steve Anderson and Doug
Clark.
Against Parkhill, Steve
Anderson was the scoring
light with a three goal perfor-
mance. Notching singles were
Doug Clark and Jon
O'Connor.
The only assists were pick-
ed up by Steve Lingard and
O'Connor.
Broncos split
The Exeter Broncos broke
even in two Shamrock league
atom hockey games this
week. Saturday, they blanked
Strathroy 4-0 and Sunday they
were on the short end of a 3-1
score to Goderich.
In Saturday's win over
Strathroy, Richard Philips
turned in an excellent perfor-
mance in goal to gain the
shutout.
Three of the four
unanswered goals came on an
unassisted efforts. They were
shot by Ryan Lindenfield,
Jason Heywood and captain
Joel Smith.
The other Exeter score
came from the stick of Brad
Thompson on a pass from
Ryan Lindenfield.
The only Waxers goal in the
loss to Goderich was fired by
Brad Thompson on a three-
way passing combination
with Ryan Lindenfield and
Mark Brintnell.
Midgets lose
In their only start of the
week in Shamrock hockey
league play, the Exeter
midgets were on the short end
of a 9-1 score to Parkhill.
The only Exeter goal was
the first of the game and
came as Bud Richardson con-
verted a pass from Chris
Tiedeman.
Paul Barnes and Jeff
Ansems each scored four
goals for Parkhill while Brent
Miron added the odd counter.
