from Jack Hunt in December.
The Broeze house will have
new tenants, as Tom Lepp-
ington is • moving oa
December 1 to 'a house near
the Surge office south Of.
Egmondville. We hope to see

The first Solidity in Advent'
was observed last Sunday
with the lighting of a candle in
the Advent wreath. A celebra-
tion of our Methodist roots,
with old traditional English
used in some readings,
Charles Wesley hymns and
John Wesley prayers, etc. to
mark the Reformation, was
the theme of the worship
service.
Members of Varna U.C.W.
are invited to bring a guest to
the Christmas meeting on
Thursday, Dec. 6 which
begins with a supper at 6:30.
The committee has an ex-
cellent program arranged
with Julie Webster playing
piano and Mrs. Shirley Luther
speaking and singing. This
meeting also provides an op-
portunity for a visit with
former members.
Ross and Dawn Elliott and
children of Wiarton spent
Sunday with Florence Elliott
and Norman and Walter
Smith. Roy and Gertie Elliott
joined them for an early
Christmas dinner and family
get-together.

Golden Glimpses
We are indeed thankful to
the "Powers That Be" for
provibeautiful -With
ziiper Day
on .the occasion of the
residents' Family Christmas
dinner. We had a very large
attendance from as far away
as Mississauga, Toronto,
Agincourt, Hamilton, London,
Goderich, Chatham, New
Hamburg, Listowel and sur-
rounding areas.
The afternoon was livened
up by the attendance of our
musicians, Nelson Howe who
played the violin accom-
panied on the piano by his
daughter, Mrs. Quance and
Ivan Norris playing the ban-
jo. George Mathonia and John
-De Boeck who provided ac-
cordion, music and Pearl Ann
Martin and Grace Martin
favoured with piano and
organ selections. Many
thanks to all of these people
for relinquishing their Sunday
afternoon out of the goodness
of their hearts. Also, a sincere
thank -you to all the
volunteers from the ladies
Auxiliary who worked in the
kitchen and dining rooms.
Without their assistance, we
could not accomplish such an
undertaking.
Last Monday evening,
movies were shown, namely;
"This Land, Australia" and
"Laurel and Hardy in Birth
Marks". Following the
movies, refreshments were
enjoyed. Incidentally, we are
still looking for volunteers
who might be able to help us
with transporting films to and
from Huron County Library,
Goderich.
We thank the pucharme
Orchards for their generous
donation of apples. We regret
that Mrs. Hazel Coward is a
patient in University
Hospital, London and Mrs.
Mary McLay in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter.
On Tuesday evening we
were pleased to have the
choir from the . Christian
Reformed Church of Exeter
who provided an evening of
singing. Some of the ladies
put their talents together and
baked a good batch of
cookies, on Wednesday mor-
ning. They repeated this on
Friday morning. The aroma
from the bake shop certainly
whets the appetite.
"Sing Time" was the order
of the morning on Thursday.
Mr. Marc Chalut took the
residents joy riding on Thurs-
day afternoon, covering an
area to Seaforth and surroun-
ding district.
The C.G.I.T. Girls of
Thames Road United Church
provided a program on Thurs-
day evening consisting of
music and several tables of
crokinole, which was enjoyed
by a number of residents.
Bingo was played on Friday
evening followed by
refreshments.
The chapel service was can-
celled on Sunday evening due
to the Family dinner.
MUSICAL QUARTET - Violinist Nelson Howe, banjop ucker Ivan Norris and ac-
cordionists John De Boeck and George Mathonia provided some toe -tapping music
for those attending the annual Christmas dinner at the Blue Water Rest Home.
HELPING HANDS - Members of the Blue Water Rest
Home Ladies Auxiliary served the annual Family
Christmas Dinner on Sunday. Shown are Marie
Mathonia, (left) Mabel Riley and Gertie Fleischaur fill-
ing cups while Connie Risi, wife of administrator Joe
Risi, puts out more plates.
