IRVIN RADON Dashwood Clarence Yager, an op- tometrist, and wife Minia Ehlers, former Dashwood residents, passed away Oc- tober 15 and November 6. Clarence was a son of Rev. J.W. Yager who was minister in the United church. Minia was an accomplished organist. They had donated an organ in memory of their parents. Harry Hoffman recalls how Clarence built his first propellered snowmobile and also the first radios. Rader funeral The funeral for Irvin Rader was held Wednesdav, Christmas Trees Spruce and Pine 3 blocks south of Main Corner in Dashwood Gary Tieman 237-3744 November 19 with Rev. M. Mellecke officiating. Pall bearers were Glen, Ken and Doug Rader, Allan Prang, Jack Geiser and Joe Zimmer. Flowers in both churches Sun- day were placed by the fami- ly in loving memory. Baptism Hilary Anne Hogarth, in- fant daughter of Brian and Margaret Hogarth was bap- tized in Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. M. Mellecke. Spon- sors were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tieman and Bonnie Hogarth Mrs. Florence Martene, president, opened the November meeting with a hymn, Scripture reading and prayer. Roll call was answered by 16 members. The topic, "Athanasian Creed, True God, True Man" was given by Pastor Mellecke. The new Altar Guild is Mrs. M. Mellecke and Mrs. Ilarvey Beierling. The card secretary sent out two birthday, two baby and get well cards. Thank you and a donation from the Florence Keller family received. A gift exchange will take place. Donations were made to Family and Children Ser- vices, Missions, Lutherwood, C.N.f.B. and Lutheran World Relief for Ethiopia. A cook book put out by Canadian Lutheran was on display. Group was in charge of clos- ing Devotions given by Mrs. Mellecke and lunch. Shut-in boxes for Christmas will be packed Sunday, December 16. The Dashwood Mens Club held their dinner meeting on Monday, November 19. Thir ty seven members and a guest speaker sat down to a delicious ham dinner. Vice president Ron Merner con ducted the meeting. Two new members joined the club, Bob Reschke and Dave Rader. The guest speaker was Robert Traut, Huron Conser- vation Agriculturalist for Crop and Soil who spoke on different ways of cropping without using mould board plow, leaving residue on top. Personals Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love were the Clare Love family, Sarnia; Fred Lobb family, Clinton; and Joe Lobb family, Brucefield. Shelli Rader, daughter of Faye Rader has returned home following a stay in South Huron Hospital. Weekend guests with Vesta and Hubert Miller were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Main, Kit- chener, Mr. and Mrs. Colin Hindley, London. Also visiting were Mrs. Emilie Miller, Dashwood and Lisa Miller, London. Sharon and Nathan Bennett are spending some time with Mrs. Irvin Rader. Bill Ben- nett returned to Lethbridge, Alberta Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Colin Hindley, London, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Main, Kitchener, were weekend guests with Mrs. Emilie Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Wellwood Gill, Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig; and Mrs. Colleen Higgs, Ailsa Craig were Sun- day visitors with Mrs. Irvin Rader and members of her family. The Dashwood Seaforth Band held their annual Christmas Party at the Zurich Town and Country Bowling Lanes on Saturday, November 17; 45 members and guests sat down to a delicious turkey supper serv- ed by Mr. and Mrs. Tony Bedard and famkily. A short meeting was held. After the meeting they had draws for three door prizes. Stewart Taylor won the first prize. Mrs. Harry Hoffman won the second prize, and Mrs. Jack Gaiser won the third prize. The hand members then had a little band practice. After the prac- tice everyone enjoyed either bowling or playing cards. The prizes for bowling went to Hilda Taylor for high in ladies and Nancy Andreasa got low. Mens high was Harry Maas and mens low to Melvin Stade. The youths high was Lisa Andreasa and low was Steve Marlene. A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all. The congregation is invited to the rectory on December 6 at 8 p.m. and December 9. The Christmas party and pot luck dinner follows the 11:30 service. Next Sunday service will be held at 8:30 p.m. A board of management meeting followed Sunday's service. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnston, Owen Sound, Saturday. Bob MacGillivray and Courtney spent Saturday with Bob's parents Mr. and Mrs. John MacGillivray in the Stokes Bay area. Jack Dickins, Exeter enter- tained his sisters and families to dinner at Heywoods Restaurant, Sunday. He was observing his birthday.
