November 4, Charlie Zielger,
United church student
minister here conducted
church services at Glencoe
and Appin churches while
their minister, Rev. Ken Hick
(formerly here) had a busy
session as he served commu-
nion at Carlisle, Brinsley
United and in the village.
During the service Rev. Hick
baptised Katherine Margaret
Jean Walker, infant daughter
of Ann and Ron Walker, and
James David Gillies, son of
Jennifer and David Gillies.
Another enjoyable evening
was presented in the village,
UCW hears of Israel trip

presided for the business. $25.

theme for Remembrance Day

Everyone enjoyed Glenna's
pictures and keepsakes she
brought back. A social hour of
Lunch and friendship followed
The men were guests for
the evening. It was great to
have Verna Hicks back with
us for the evening also all the
other guests - Come again.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bowden
were guests of their family for
dinner Sunday at the Chez
Am's Restaurant in London in
celebration of their 55th wed-
ding anniversary. Following
the dinner all were invited to
the home of Mrs. Margaret
Reid and girls for a social
time.
The regular Monday even-
ing euchre party in the com-
munity centre had 12 tables
playing, convened by Evan
and Alma Hodgins, Charlotte
Barker, Jean Millar and Mur-
ray Carter.
Prize winners were high
score Doris Pfaff and Percy
Noels, lone hands Liz Lam-
port and Joe Carter, low score
Kay Armstrong and Allen
Pfaff.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Oesch,
Clinton who attended the
euchres all the time were
wished a happy 46th wedding
anniversary.
Next euchre will be
November 19 convened by
Allan and Doris Pfaff and Roy
and Lil Swartz.
Mrs. Rick Walker, Jeanette
and Sarah spent the weekend
with her paretns Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Simmons, Woodstock.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Hirtzel were in Parkhill Sun-
day where they attended the
christening of their great-
grandson Derek Schenning
and were guests after with the
parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Schenning at a family dinner.
A very successful
Hallowe'en party was held on
Hallowe'en night at the Cen-
tralia Community Centre
sponsored by the village.
Judges were Alice Koehler
and Mike Underhill. The
Centralia- Huron Park Lions
club ran the party serving hot
dogs and pop to the kids.

program.

at St. Patrich's church with
Rev. Peter Derrick in charge.
Mrs. Mary Kooy provided
music.
During the children's focus
Lisa Carroll read a poem she
composed for Remembrance
day. Next Sunday service will
be at 8:45 a.m.
Final plans were made for
the dessert euchre and bake
sale, Wednesday, November
14th at one o'clock in St.
Patrick's Hall.
Michael and Suzanne at-
tended a reception in
Mildmay for Suzanne's
cousin, Saturday and Crystal
Davis visited her grand-
parents Hugh and Hazel
Davis.
Mrs. Hazel Davis, Mrs.
Marguerite Greenlee and
Mrs. Mary Davis attended the
bazaar and tea at St. Thomas
Church, Granton, Saturday.
Kevin and Karl Stewart, Bill
Ingram, Paul Woods and
Dean Bender who sang
several numbers.
"The important parts of the
church" such as hands, offer-
ing plate, stewardship,
church pew, soloist and pulpit
were described by six of the
Brinsley congregation.
The mixed choir con-
tributed several old familiar
hymns. During the service
four hymns were sung by all
present.
Throughout the program
Ron gave readings on Grand-
mother's glasses and Foot-
prints in the sand.
Three ladies from our
U.C.W. as well as Mr. Zielger
presented a short skit "St.
Peter's gate."
Musical numbers were
given by the Men's choir with
Marion Wadsworth at the
organ. Under the able leader-
ship of Janice Karr, andNan-
cy Harmer at the piano, the
junior choir 117 strong)
delighted the large crowd
with their message in song.
While the offering was
received the ladies choir,
dressed in old fashioned outfits
sang One day at a Time.
This being a very enjoyable
program many are looking
forward to another one. What
talented folk we have in the
pastoral charge of three chur-
ches so "hats off to each one".
Mr. Zielger closed the even-
ing with prayer followed with

United Church on Sunday,
despite the nasty weather.
All seniors of the village
and area are welcome at the
Activity Centre, Friday even-
ing at 7:30 p.m. to see a
movie.
