treasurer's report .was given
by Joyce Strahan. Members
Are reminded to bring toys or

meeting to be sent to the

for supper to Monkton Mon-
day evening in honor of their
wedding anniversary. We all
returned to the Rohde home
in Mitchell for cards which
brought an enjoyable evening
to a close.

TOWN OF EXETER
PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING A PRO-
POSED OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Exeter
will hold a public meeting on December 12th, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ex-
eter Municipal Office to consider a proposed Official Plan Amendment
under Section 17 of The Planning Act.
The proposed Official Pian Amendment would designate the Town of Ex-
eter as a Community Improvement Area as defined under the Planning
Act. This amendment will allow the municipality to enter into programs
provided by upper levels of government to improve any deficiencies in
hard services (eg. public works) or soft services (eg. parks and recrea-
tion) within the Community Improvement Area.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and;' or make written or ver-
bal representation either in support of, or in opposition to the proposed
Official Non Amendment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the proposed Official Nan Amend-
ment is available at the Town offices during normal business hours.

funeral of the late Hugh Nor-
ris at the Lockhart Funeral

tended to his wife and family.
Church Service
The regularchurch service
was held on Sunday morning
with Rev. Robert Matheson in
charge. He told the children a
story entitled "Help Is Near".
The choir rendered an an-
them. The Scripture Lesson
was read from Isaiah 25:
6-IOa, Philippians 4: 12-20,
Matthew 22: 1-14.
,The sermon was entitled
"How Do You W -O -R -K

The Crediton and district
Social Club held a fall Euchre
tournament at the town hall
October 24. Winners were
first The Exeter Legion team
of Cliff McDonald, Howard
Boltzmann, Ed Hearn and
Stan Frayne.
Second prize went to
another Exeter Legion team
consisting of John Dietz, Russ
King, Bob Simpson and Norm
Ferguson. Third prize went to
the Crediton Social Club team
of Paul Cronyn, Gerald Isaac,
Alvin Faulder and Gerald
Thompson.
Six lone hands were suc-
cessfully played by Alvi
Faulder and Jim Jarrett.

time after the burial or cremation of the

The memorial service is of the deceased and
for those who live on. It is held at your church,
our funeral home or even in your own home.
It provides an alternate time for relatives,
friends and associates to express their per-
sonal thoughts and support.

Tweedsmuir history
at Staffa Institute

Mrs. Arthur Smale, hosted
a special meeting of the Staf-
fa Women's Institute, com-
bining Ontario's Bicentennial
and the Tweedsmiur
Histories, at her home
recently.
There were a number of
special guests present, among
them, Mrs. Geraldine
Siemon, Mitchell, who is in
charge of the new archives in
Mitchell, and told many in-
teresting things about what is
available there including
records of births, deaths,
marriages etc.
Mrs. Siemon was introduc-
ed by Mrs. Jack Burchill and
thanked by Mrs. Kay Smale.
Mrs. Burchill chaired the
afternoon event, opening with
a suitable poem. Mrs. Russell
Worden, Seaforth, reminisced
about her years as a member
of Staffa Women's Institute
and Mrs. Charles Douglas
read an amusing account of
an early Staffa WI meeting.
Several musical numbers
by Mrs. Ross Smale, Seaforth
were enjoyed by all.
Roll call was answered by
naming Grandmother's
remedy and also naming who
was president the year they
joined the Staffa Women's
Institute.
Greetings were brought by
Mrs. Mervin Shute, Kirkton,
Perth South District presi-
dent: Mrs. Bert McIntosh,
Motherwell Perth South
District Curator; and Mrs.
Roy Ross Thamesford,
Tweedsmuir Curator for the
London area.
Constable Bob Morrow, Kit-
chener OPP, was guest
speaker at the Resolutions
meeting of the Staffa Womens
Institute held in the Township
hall on Wednesday evening
October 24 with 13 ladies
present.
Constable Morrow showed
a film with commentary on
Senior Power and how to use
it, which was most infor-
mative. He then discussed the
many ways unsuspecting
rural and urban families can
be conned b door to door
salesmen, home im-
provements, bank examiners
etc.
Roll call was answered by
naming changes in the com-
munity in the last 50 years.
The president, Mrs. Kay
Smale, presided for the
business, reminding everyone
about the London area con-
vention in St. Marys
November t and 2 and the
District executive banquet for
those involved.
Mrs. John Templeman told
about she and John attending
the Royal Agricultural
Garden Party for her Royal
Highness Queen Elizabeth
and the Duke of Edinborough
at Amherstview on
September 27 and showed
some pictures she had taken.

Miller reported on the Perth
county Women's Institute ral-
ly held recenity in Stratford
with Mrs. Ray Smale, Mrs.
Jack Burchill and Mrs.

Staffa, visited for a couple of
days with Mrs. Mary Rossi,
Toronto.
Former neighbours of Mr.
and Mrs. Carter Kerslake
gathered at their new home in
Mitchell on Saturday evening
to wish them well in their new
home and present them with
a parting gift from their
neighbours.
A number from this com-
munity attended the 40th wed-
ding anniversary party for
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Ross Fri-
day evening at the St. Marys
Community Centre.
Mrs. J. Dearing entertain-
ed the Dearing and Fitzgerald
relatives at her home
recently.
The Cromarty Scouts, Cubs
and Beavers had a very suc-
cessful apple day on Saturday
in Hibbert Township, realiz-
ing over $275.00 for scouting.

by the choir, and Jamie

at the organ.
For the evening service,
Pastor Bob Scrimgeour was
the guest speaker and the
music was supplied by "The
Fletcher Brothers". Mrs. Bob -
Bullock was organist for the
evening service.
