United Church celebrates Methodist influence with special service
The Order for Morning
Prayer every Lord's Day of
the Methodist Church was us-
ed as the Order of Service on
Sunday morning at the United
Church when they celebrated
the 200th Anniversary of
Methodism and the 100th
Anniversary of the Union of
the Methodists in Canada.
The hymns by Charles and
John Wesley were used
throughout the service and the
senior choir sang one of
Charles Wesley's hymns
Jesus Lover of My Soul.
For the chidlren's sermon.
Mr. McDonald spoke about A
Horse as a Minister and told
the story of how the horse was
used to bring God's word and
Christ's salvation to all people
through the Circuit Rider.
For the sermon Mr.
McDonald told of the role of
Methodists over the years. To
millions, he said, John Wesley
broug»t the power of the Ho-
ly Spirit. To Wesley, and to
Methodists ever since, the im-
portant question is not the
state of mind but the state of
the heart. This is also the im-
portant question for the
United Church of Canada. On-
ly with the Holy Spirit can we
become the church that God
intended.
At the close of the service a
circuit rider visited the con-
reation and told of the ex-
periences of a circuit rider as
he told the story to his horse
Salvation The circuit rides
was played by Cecil Pepper in
proper costume along with his
orange -maned (stick) horse,
Salvation.
Hilda Payne greeted the
congregation and John
Rowcliffe, Murray Wareing,
Murray McGregor and Mark
McGregor were the ushers.

reminded of the Remem-
brance Service next Sunday
at 11:01 a.m. in the church
and then to the Cenotaph for
the laying of wwalks at 11:45

Furnace
To be perfectly honest, the hats we give away with our high efficiency
E. Lennox Pulse furnaces -- natural gas or propane -- could be described as
_ - uh - cheap. The furnaces are not.
Mind you, they aren't expensive, either. In fact, they are priced right in
line with other less efficient "high efficiency" furnaces - the Pulse is as
high as 98%, have the longest warranty - 20 years, and are made in Canada
by Lennox. who else has been making furnaces since 1895?
And if we install it you will know it's done right, because we know what
__ we're doing, we care about our customers, and we take a lot of pride in
= our work. We think there's still a place for that.
The hat's worth every cent you'll pay for it.
