JOE HOGAN PRESIDENT
Lesson was read from
Jeremiah 15: 15-21, Romans
12:1-8. Matthew 16:21-28.
Rev. Matheson's sermon
was entitled, "Self -hood,
Other -hood, Sister and
Brother -hood". Jeremiah
starts off lamenting about the
position God has placed him
in - "poor me" - you have
caused me to suffer. God
directs Jeremiah's thoughts
to the plight of others.
Romans directs the
thoughts of the Christians in
Rome who worry about local
church issues to note that
there is an entire world in
need of ministry - in need of
community out there - beyond
the walls of Rome. Think of
the Roman Empire: the
world had to direct taxes that
direction; Paul demands a
renewal; Rome is to minister
to needs of the world.
The Thanksgiving meeting
of the UCW will be held on

A combined session meeting

tober 7 at the regular church
