Ducks Unlimited banquet
The newly formed Goderich
Committe of Ducks Unlimited
Canada has announced that
its first annual banquet will
be held at The Candlelight
Restaurant in Goderich, on
November 16, at 6:00 p.m.
Committee Chairman
Bruce Sully of Champion
Road Machinery feels the
fund-raising function should
be marked on the calendar by
anyone who is interested in
the future of North
American's waterfowl and
wetlands.
"Ducks Unlimited has been
preserving and restoring
wetland habitat in Canada for
more than 40 years," says
Sully. Sully went on to say
that he volunteered to help
Ducks Unlimited because of
the organizations impressive
track record. Since 1938, this
private non-profit organiza-
tion has constructed more
than 2,100 wetland projects
throughout Canada.
As a result, DU has reserv-
ed over three million habitat
acres and created more than
13,000 miles of crucial nesting
shoreline for waterfowl.
"Now there's growing in-
terest from Canadians to
contribute financially to the
future of waterfowl and
wetlands conservation. These
banquets are one way for
sportsmen and other conser-

vation minded individuals to
make a solid contribution to
Ducks Unlimited's time pro-
ven habitat program."
Concluding his remarks
about the importance of UD's
conservation effort Sully
stated, "Our committee will
be calling on conservation -
minded individuals and
businesses within the com-
munity to help support our
DU fund-raising banquet.
Businesses have found their
generosity returned in kind by
participants these events.
We're going to have a lot of
good food. great prizes and
fun for everyone, and those
who attend can rest assured
the dollars we raise are going
to a very good cause".
Sully said he and any
member of the Goderich
('ommittee would be happy to
talk to anyone interested in
DU 's grassroots conservation
program and can be reached
at 524-2601.

riveau and all attended the
funeral of their brother Ed
Corriveau on Saturday.
May we offer our sincere
sympathy to the relatives of
the late Edward Corriveau
who passed away in his 89th
year on September 20. He and
his wife Bertha (91) a resident
of the Blue Water Rest Home,
had just celebrated their 60th
wedding anniversary at South
Huron Hospital where Ed was
a patient on Sunday,
September 16. He was very
happy when Fr. Bensette
presented him with the medal
he got when going to see the
Pope.
We also offer our sympathy
to the family and relatives of
the late George Regier who
passed away on Saturday
especially to his wife Ethel.
A speedy recovery is wish-
ed for Laura Overholt and
Geraldine Charrette
recuperating from being in
the hospital recently.
Mrs. Josephine Deitrich
recently spent a week with
her daughter Theresa and
family in Toronto. They were
among the thousands of peo-
ple who saw the pope at
Downsview. The Van de
Boomen family motored to
Midland to see him.
Visitors for a few days last
week with Fr. Mooney while
on their way hack home from
seeing the pope in Midland
were his brother Joe Mooney
and wife Bernadette and
sister from Windsor travell-
ing by motor home.
Paul and Angela Watson
and Vic and Irene Hartman,
Dashwood, attended the
funeral of a friend; Andre
Madore in Quebec, both men
were pallbearers.
Sunday evening was the
first session of a six-week
religion class held at St.
Boniface School for high
school age students of both
parishes, which are being
taught by the priest and some
parents from 7:30-9:00 p.m.

A lovelyco/,clen three-week trip
We lost our summer in
terms of seasons on the week-
end, but are fortunate to still
have the summer
temperatures with us.
The residents enjoyed a bus
ride around the countryside
on Monday afternoon.
We are pleased that Mrs.
Mary Ravelle and Mr. Percy
Johnston have been able to
return from the different
hospitals.
On Wednesday afternoon,
Mr. and Mrs. Marc Chahit

during the week were Mr.
Stephen Molnar, Mrs. Violet
Huntley, Mrs. Annie Noakes,
Mrs. Valeria Armstrong, Mr.
Aaron Gingerich, Mr. Joseph
