The annual Terry Fox run
in Exeter has been set for
Sunday, September 23.
Co-ordinator Doug Ellison
said this week that par-
ticipants of all ages are en-
couraged to assist the work of
the Cancer Society by joining
in the event. People can run,
walk or even cycle over the 10
km. course through the
streets of Exeter.
Over $2,500 has been raised
in each of the first two runs
and he hopes that the figure
will be exceeded this year.
The starting time is bet-
ween 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
from the rec centre.
Application and pledge
sheets are now available at
Ellison Travel and most area
schools.
Thisyear, each participant
will receive a certificate and
a decal for each year he/she
has participated in the event.
A new decal for t -shirts has
also been designed and is cur-
rently on display at RSD
Sports Den.
Ellison has issued a
challenge to all area
organizations to have at least
one representative in the
event and to have members of
that organization provide
pledge support for their
representatives.
Thieves hit
three spots
Two thefts are under in-
vestigation by the Exeter
police this week.
Darling's abattoir was
broken into and three boxes of
uncut steaks and roasts were
stolen.
The theft of a small amount
of cash from Becker's Milk
Store was also reported.
Police are looking for a
suspect who is approximate-
ly 25 years of age, 5'10", 140
pounds with a small
moustache.
Also under investigation is
a complaint regarding youths
shooting shotguns in the river
flats area. Any persons hav-
ing information on this mat-
ter are asked to contact the
police department as soon as
possible.
Thieves made off with cash
and cigarettes after breaking
into Gilly's (:as Bar in Huron
Park on Sunday evening.
Four video game machines
were also damaged to the ex-
tent of $800.
Exeter OPP said that $350
in cash and five cartons of
cigarettes were taken in the

Seven seeking
dairy crown
Seven young women are
vieing for the title of Huron
County Dairy Princess.
One will be chosen on
September 8 at the Howick
Community Centre at the
dairy princess ball sponsored
by the Huron County Milk
Producers.

is the 18 -year-old daughter of
Kornelis and Grace Hamm-
ing of RR 1 Auburn. Born and
raised on a dairy farm, Anita
is starting her first year in ar-
chitectural technology at
Humber College. She is a
graduate of Goderich District
Collegiate Institute and con-
siders herself a sports nut.
She enjoys skiing, snowshoe-
ing and drawing.
MICHELE MCMAHON -
Michele, 18 is entering Grade
13 at Listowel District Secon-
dary School. She is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jaynes McMahon and enjoys
reading, crafts, cooking and
babysitting. She has com-
pleted 15 4-11 homemaking
clubs.
DENISE NETHERY - The
17 -year-old daughter of Alex
and Jean Nethery is starting
Grade 12 at F.E. Madill
Secondary School in
Wingham. She enjoys
baseball, broomball, piano,
4-H homemaking and
babysitting. She is in her
church choir and is a
volunteer at the, Wingham
Day Care Centre. She resides
at RR 4, Brussels.
BRENDA MACDONALD -
Brenda is the 22 -year-old
daughter of Len and Sheila
MacDonald of London. She is
currently employed as a milk
maid on the farm of Jim Hun-
ter's at RR 1, Belgrave. She
doesn't have much time for
hobbies now, but she does en-
joy ringette and baseball.
