The low point of the weekend came Saturday afternoon with the arrival of heavy rains which caused cancellation of the scheduled Jeannie C. Riley show. In conclusion the chairman ucan and district news ,,r Susan Cook 227.4911 To plan new SS season Lucan United Church again met for summer morning worship with Clandeboye con- gregation Sunday at 10 a.m. at Clandeboye United Church. Mr. Brown continued his series of themes from the Book of Proverbs using the text,"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In- att your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." If we are to know the direc- tion God promises, we need to decide to trust the Lord, deliberately giving in to Christ and ceasing to rely on our own ideas. "It is hard to change the focus of our faith from self to Christ, but that is what God requires," said Mr. Brown. We must accept His Lordship in an attitude of love and devotion to Him, so that pleasing Him becomes the consuming passion of our Senior booth a huge success A very sincere thank you to all who helped to make the Sunshine Busy Buddies seniors' booth at the fair, so very successful. Special thanks to Frank Goring and his helpers for pre and post work, to Agnes Hotson as con- vener, and to Dean Gibson for the "labor of love" in making the float wagon easy to ride on! He will remove obstacles, making our path straight, and will give us the direction we need. He does this most commonly through the Scriptures which make clear the principles which should guide our way, through the witness of the Ho- ly Spirit who makes the will of God as we pray, and through circumstances that open or close doors to us. When these three elements lineup, we can go forward with confidence that God is leading. "The only safe way is the faith way," concluded Mr. Brown. Upcoming Events - Monday August 27 at 7:30 p.m. teachers of Lucan United Church Sunday School meet in the C.E. Wing of the Church to plan for the new season.
