Youngsters enjoy'
program at Ailsa
$y ALICE DICKENS
Ailsa Craig
The "Go Wild" summer
reading program at the local
library is winding down to the
final day. There has been a
great response from the
children in the community.
So far 57 children have
finished the required reading
and the librarians hope that
the remaining 65 will be able
to finish by August 31. The
Super Safari Scouts have had
a 'roaring' good time and
Noah's Space ship is almost
filled.
The library staff are
grateful to all for making the
program so much fun.
Monday 75 children came to
the town hall to enjoy a sing -
along with Rodney Brown.
There was handclapping, toe
tapping with all kinds of
music and songs. The pro -
gram was sponsored by the
local library, the Ministry of
Citizenship and Culture and
Outreach Ontario.
Riverview Women's In-
stitute members and families
enjoyed a delicious pot -luck
supper at their Family Night
on August 7 in the Masonic
hall.
Following this, several
played euchre while others
tried their luck at dominos.
President Lorna Priestley
welcomed all and Mrs. Bill
Sutherland and committee
convened the program. The
next meeting will be Wednes-
day September 5 in the
evening.
Winners at the Happy Gang
seniors euchre Wednesday
afternoon were Marjorie
Steeper, Margaret Carter,
Alice Dickens, Jean
McCallum, Carmon Stewart
and Lorraine Neil.

During the business, con-
ducted by president Harold
Guilfoyle, a moment of
silence was observed in
memory of Mrs. Myrtle
Sinker -All signed a get -well
card for Hannah Clark. Plans
are being made to visit Mon-
trose, Michigan seniors in
September. More euchre on
August 29.
Do you know where a
number of adults from this
area were last Wednesday
afternoon? Some were at the
above gathering and joined
with others, each carrying
their favorite food, to the
Chalet site, hidden behind the
Nairn KOA camp in a
peaceful setting.
In quick order such games
as euchre, scrabble, dominos,
UNO, and crokinole were
brought forth. After a time of
playing games of your choice,
all partook of a tasty pot -luck
supper. Simon Bender asked
the blessing.
President Janet Rose of the
Craigwiel Activity Centre
welcomed all and Isabelle
Stokes thanked, everyone for
coming and extended an in-
vitation to all seniors to return
for a time of fun, food and
fellowship on September 5
afternoon.
Won't you join us?
