and all attended the 35th Fair-
bairn reunion held at the cot-
tage of Jack and Betty Sim-
mons in Sun Cove subdivision
on Sunday July 15 with 45 at-
tending.from Hamilton, Wind-
sor, New York, Goderich, Ex-
eter, Hensall, Dashwood and
Zurich. Derek and Lynda
O'Brien were in charge of the
sports which were enjoyed by
young and old. The 1985 reu-
nion will be held at the home
of Doug and Betty Ann
O'Brien.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Moser, and Mr. and Mrs.
Aaron Zehr from Lowville,
New York were recent
visitors with Harold and
Edith Widrick. All were Sun-
day visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Shantz in
Heidelberg.
Edgar and Ruth Willert of
Innisfail, Alberta, are spen-
ding a couple of weeks vaca-
tion in the Zurich area,
visiting with his mother, Mrs.
Louella, Willert and other
relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Gascho and Mrs. Beatrice
Rader were in Detroit last
week attending the funeral of
their aunt Mrs. John
Brenneman.
Dr. and Mrs. Ed MacAulay
and family have returned to
their home in Truro, N.S.

Bayfield resident, Mrs. Irene
Brisson of Mt. Clemens
Michigan passed away last
Thursday. The funeral Mass
and burial was held on the
Blue Water at St. Peter's
Church, Monday July 23 with
the CWL serving lunch in the
hall afterwards.

Women held their summer
meeting in the form of a pic-
nic at the park recently.
Bob and Nancy Brown
recently enjoyed spending a
week in New Brunswick while
at a convention for his work,
for sheet metal.
Little Kevin Michael Pole,
son of Bill and Cheryl Pole
(nee Rau) was baptized on
Sunday at St. Boniface
Church by Fr. Mooney with

niversary. Bill Mills' birthday

All set for Fair
The 1984 Zurich fair spon-
sored by the Zurich and
District Agricultural Society
will be officially opened by
Huron County Warden Tom
Cunningham at 7:45 on Fri-
day, July 27 in the Communi-
ty Centre. Other officials will
be Norm Eckel, president of
the Agricultural Society,
Huron -Bruce MP Murray
Cardiff, Huron-Middlese
MPP Jack Riddell, Zuricff
Reeve Isidore LaPorte and
Hay township Reeve Lionel
Wilder.
The musical program
which follows will feature the
Waterloo Regional Police
Male Choir, and Marilyn and
Kelley Doyle with organ and
piano selections.
Contestants in the Queen of
the Fair contest will be in-
troduced during the program.
Admission is E2. Children
under 12 will be admitted
free.
The program will be suc-
ceeded by a dance at 9:30
p.m. to the music of Mozart's
Melody Makers. The winner
of the Queen contest will be
crowned during the dance.
Advance ticket's may be
purchased from agricultural
society members or at
several Zurich stores for E7
per couple. Admission at the
door will be S8.
The winner of a door prize
at the dance will receive a gift
certificate from the Bayfield
Village Inn for a night's lodg-
ing and breakfast for two.
Saturday morning's events
begin with competitions in the
saddle and western horse
show. This will continue
throughout the afternoon with
Western games and other
activities.
Many entries are being
received for the heavy horse
show.
A number of craft and
display booths have been
booked.
The OPP display trailer
will be on the grounds for
viewing all day.
The parade, led by the
Dashwood-Seaforth Band,
begins marching at 12:30.
This year's theme is "Sports
and Liesure". The Exeter
Horse and Rider club will par-
ticipate in the parade.
The baby show begins at
2:00 p.m. Babies may com-
pete in four classes: up to four
months; up to eight months,
up to one year, and up to 18
months.
Wrist wrestling competi-
tions begin at 3:00 p.m. The
five men's classes are divid-
ed into up to 140 pounds, from
141 to 160; from 161 to 180; 181
to 200, and over 200' pounds.
The women will compete in
one open class.
Entrants are .asked to
register at 2:30 p.m. and pay
a 52 fee. All contestants must
live within a 20 -mile radius of
Zurich.
Prizes have been donated
by Molsons.
A number of children's
events are planned. A pedal -
powered mini tractor pull is
being introduced this year,
beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Children will- be ranked ac-
cording to weight in three
classes: up to 50 pounds, 51 to
75, and 76 to 100 pounds. First,
second and third prizes will be
awarded in each category.
Entry fee is 51., to be paid
while registering at 3:00 p.m.
A money scramble to find
coins hidden in a bag of
sawdust will take place after
the tractor pull for five years
and under, and children rang-
ing in age from six to eight.
A watermelon -eating con-
test will follow for girls and
boys aged eight to 11 and
those 12 to 14.
Admission to the grounds
on Saturday is $2. for adults.
Public school children will be
admitted free.
