Though heavy clouds threatened after dawn, the sun came out to provide racers and fans with great motocross action. In fact, the track was near- ly ideal shortly after racing started, and as the day pro- gressed, got progressively faster. Expert racer Rob Hodgson of Cambridge posted the fastest lap times of the day, and broke the magic minute -40 second barrier several times, turning consis- tant minute -38's. Hully Gully organizers at- tribute some of this speed to track improvements they've made in preparation for the Labatt's Expert 125 and 250 Motocross National Cham- pionships coming June 17. The Expert Nationals will provide the best motocross yet seen in this part of Canada, and Sunday's racing was just a short preview of better things to come.
