Heavy rains improve track
conditions at Hully Gully
A heavy downpour in the
early night 'hours of Sunday
June 3 only improved track
conditions for the CMA sanc-
tioned motocross races at
Hully Gully. Though heavy
clouds threatened after dawn,
the sun came out to provide
racers and fans with great
motocross action.
In fact, the track was near-
ly ideal shortly after racing
started, and as the day pro-
gressed, got progressively
faster. Expert racer Rob
Hodgson of Cambridge posted
the fastest lap times of the
day, and broke the magic
minute -40 second barrier
several times, turning consis-
tant minute -38's.
Hully Gully organizers at-
tribute some of this speed to
track improvements they've
made in preparation for the
Labatt's Expert 125 and 250
Motocross National Cham-
pionships coming June 17.
The Expert Nationals will
provide the best motocross
yet seen in this part of
Canada, and Sunday's racing
was just a short preview of
better things to come.
