WHO CAN ONE TURN TO IN ONE'S DEEPEST
SORROW?
Doctors ore surrounded by the sadness of many
on irreversible and fatal illness. They've learn-
ed through their schooling and experience how
best to deal with grief situations. Ministers are
well-read and experienced in grief -therapy and
belong to the family circle as friends and
counselors.
Doctors and ministers con help. They are pro-
fessionals who hove given over their lives to
helping families in emergency, sudden sadness
and mourning.
Depending on the individual circumstances,
you can tum to each professional for his par-
ticular assistance. For the assurance tha¢
everything that could possibly be done was
done - your family doctor can be of unques-
tionable aid.
For consolation and aid in working through the
mourning process, your minister's assistance
can be invaluable.
We are also at your service for.whptever in-
formation and personal aid we can provide -
in obtaining necessary forms, contacting
relatives, insurance companies, unions or
Canada Pension offices for benefits to which
you may be entitled. Please feel fres to inquire.
Just stop by or call.

Church service
Rev. Robert Matheson was
in charge of the Mother's Day
Church Service on Sunday.
The primary class sang
"Jesus Love the Little
Children" and Robert Bray
sang "Everything Is
Beautiful" accompanied by
the pianist Miss Agnes Bray
which was much enjoyed.
Rev. Robert Matheson told
the children a story entitled
"Great Gifts". The sermon
was entitled "Memories
Abound".
Mother's Day is a day of
memories. It's a day when we
can think back to the deeds
done for us which received no
thanks in. return. Today
besides being Mother's Day,
is also Good Shepherd Sun-
day. When we think of the role
and the duties of a shepherd
we find that vocation has a
description much like the
work of a mother.
On Good Shepherd Sunday
we remember in particular
the aspects of Jesus' ministry
which are shepherd -like. He
served His people. He loves
His people-. He gives of
Himself. The same, of course
is true of the ideal mother.
The family of God - the
Church - is called to serve
others, to love, to give of
itself.
In order to be the ideal
church, then, we need ideal
standards. These can be
found in the ideal life of
Christ.
United Church Women

fering was received by Mrs. -
Passmore and Mrs. Ray Cot-
tle with prayer by Mrs.

Or a Gift" by Mrs. Stewart.
Two poems "A Mother's
Love" and "A Mother's Men-
ding Bag" by Mrs. Passmore.
The topic "Jesus Means
Life" with the purpose: To ex-
plore how Jesus gave new life
to women of his time and to
see what this implies for
women .and men today, was
given by Mrs. Mac Hodgert
with Mrs. Lee Webber, Mrs.
Ken Duncan, Mrs. Barry Jef-
fery and Mrs. Murray

she was doing.

McLeans magazine "The
Pope's Views'on Women". A

dian Women" was given by
Mrs. Bev Alexander. A story
"Lost In a Crowd" by Mrs.

Mrs. Lee Webber president
opened the business part of

Mother's Day". The roll call

Favourite Flower".

manse report stating a new
lawn mower had been bought,
and some eavestroughing was
