Allan Rooseboom, RR 3 Zurich, was proceeding along concession 6-7 of Hay, north of Highway 83, when he lost con- trol of his vehicle and it roll- ed over in the ditch. Damage was listed at $3,500. The only other accident in- vestigated during the week by the Exeter OPP occurred last Monday at the intersection of the Stephen Township Service Road and Empress Ave. in Huron Park. Drivers involved were Gerald Morgan and Neil Stanlake, both of Huron Park. PRIDE also monitors court sessions to compile statistics on the punishment being handed out by the courts, which Ecker said is very in- consistent throughout the province. Council members endorsed the work of the committee and Councillor Ben Hoogen- boom suggested that more ef- fort would be needed to educate young people about the dangers of drinking and driving. Ecker agreed, noting that the effort to educate kids about the dangers of smoking has had some results and he has had many patients call to get help to stop smoking because of the pressures plac- ed on them by their children. Mayor Bruce Shaw added that stiffer court punishment would also be a deterrent. In his final comment, the local doctor said that im- paired driving is just the tip of the iceberg in alcohol abuse and he explained that hardly EAVESTROUGH ALUMINUM and VINYL SIDING ALUMINUM STORM __ DOORS and WINDOWS jul ALUMINUM AWNINGS — — J REPLACEMENT WINDOWS • RENOVATIONS and GENERAL CONSTRUCTION • FREE ESTIMATES • JIM BECKER CONSTRUCTION DASHWOOD 237-3526 a week goes by in his office that he doesn't see someone in the area who has an alcohol problem. Car seats Continued from front page The money thus raised makes possible the low rental for the seats. A $25 deposit en- sures nine month's use, and the rental can be extended for a further three months at $2 per month. Ten dollars of the deposit is refunded when the seat is returned in good condition. The infant and junior seats may be leased for a shorter term at $2 per week for not less than $5 to cover process- ing costs. The $25 deposit will be required, and is fully refundable on return of the seat in good condition. Exeter exists Continued from front page *from Councilor Bill Rose, Mickle said the oversight in not circulating the bylaw to the two neighboring municipalities was a "ge- nuine omission". Rose suggested council make the situation known to the county planning board in the hope the latter would per- sue the matterr. Council then agreed with Mayor Bruce Shaw that a let- ter be sent to the county plan- ner asking that Exeter be given an opportunity to review the document. "It's a tactful way to let them know we'd like to see what the heck is going on," Shaw explained, adding a comment about the township needing to be more aware of the existence of its neighbors. The same oversight was not made by Usborne and Stephen Townships. Com- prehensive zoning bylaws from both those .townships were on hand for council viewing this week and Shaw asked members to reyiew them and bring any concerns for discussion at the - next meeting.
