Bowling tournament Sunday was the last in a series of three Zurich and Area Businessmen's Tourna- ment. This tournament was run on a handicap basis ac- cording to the bowler's average, thus helping the lower or average bowler. High game of the day went to 011ie Edwards for a game of 318; second single went to Jim Bedard of Zurich bowling 296. First high 5 games went to Ron Crown bowling 1129; second was Doug Smith Sr. rolling 1131: Thirty-one bowlers came from Goderich, Zurich, Strat- ford, Dashwood, Hensall, Seaforth, Exeter, Grand Bend and Lucan to compete. The Recreation Commis- sion would like to remind everyone of the big spring dance on Saturday May 26 at the new township hall, with music by Free Wheelin'. They are again sponsoring the swim program during the last two weeks of July, and may have an extended playground program this summer. Monday evening movies were shown followed by refreshments. On Tuesday evening we were pleased to have the Zurich Easter choir under the direction of Miss Dorothy Steckle. Residents as well as visitors enjoyed the Easter Message and were treated to refreshments following the performance. There will be a sale of plants. Communion services were held by Rev. Clayton Kuepfer on Thursday afternoon for members and adherents of the Zurich Mennonite con- gregation. Rev. Jim Sutton also administered commu- nion to the members of the Anglican Church. Bingo was played on Friday evening followed by refreshments. The Sunday evening chapel service was con9ucted by Rev. J CERTIFIED SEED :. rr tori *u rrs wr1 1_ .-` . -ow r Donations required for community auction The Zurich Agricultural Society and the Hay Township Recreational Committee plan to hold a Community Auction on May 19 at the Zurich Arena, for funds for local recreation and to assist the Agricultural Society which sponsors the annual Zurich fair. Residents of the area are asked to clean out their garages and attics, etc. for ar- ticles they no longer need or use. Local auctioneers have volunteered their time for this fund-raising activity. Anyone who has articles to donate for this sale, please call Tony Bedard (236-4923) or Ted Lansbergen (236-4149). The Zurich Agricultural Society has finalized some plans for this year's Zurich Fair which is to be held on Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28. The date is a week later so that it would not con- flict with other area celebra- tions and fairs. The entertainment commit- tee has made arrangements to have the Waterloo Regional Police Choir perform for a program on Friday evening when the opening of the fair will take place. The Agricultural Society will also sponsor a Queen of the Fair contest again this year. The contestants in the Queen contest will be introduced during the program, but the announcement of the winner of the Queen contest will take place during the dance later in the evening. The 1984 Fair Queen may be eligible to enter the Miss Mid -Western Ontario contest in Lucknow in September and the Miss C.N.E. contest in 1985. Mozart's Melody Makers will be providing music for the dance. Tickets for the dance may be obtained from members of the Zurich Agricultural Society. There will be a door prize at the dance. The lucky winner and guest will have the opportuni- ty to spend a night and have breakfast at the Village Inn in Bayfield. Draw winners The lucky winner of the K. of C. share -the -wealth draw at their meeting last Thursday was Lee Regier, Zurich, of 893. and two 825. consolation prices were won by Denny Overholt and a Maloney from Dublin.
