In the pouring rain the athletes discovered how their training is progressing and what the competition will be like this season. In the first outdoor meet for Southwestern Ontario Tim Easterbrook was .first in junior long jump with 5.7 m. For the midget 3000 m. race Beth Sweeney's 12.25 min. time was the best. Susan McClure ran first in the 200 m. and third in the 100m.with respective times of 28.5 sec. and 13.8 sec. Alice Dietrich placed third in the senior 800 m. in 2.45 minutes. McClure was fifth in the same race. In the junior , 500 m. Leanne Dillon was eighth and Irene Dietrich eleventh. Stephanie Jones had 2.55min. in the midget800m. As a senior boy Jeff Wareham placed eighth in 2.19 minutes. Glenn Durie is showing strength as he placed sixth in the 3000 m. and eighth:in the 1500 m. Mark Johnson was tenth in both of those junior races. South Huron's long distance' shows the strength of hard training as several runners had good placings. Mary Lou Rundle was fourth and fifth in the senior 1500 m. and 3000 m. with times of 5.56 and 12.46 respectively Tracey Ducharme was sixth in the senior 3000 m. and Shiela Regier had the same placing in the midget race. Lyndi Dillon had good times to place sixth and eighth respectively in midget 3000 m. and 1500 m. Roger Ward was fifth in the midget 200 m. in 26.6 seconds. On the field Andrea Pearce placed fifth junior discus with a throw of 23.7 m. Paulette Rauthbeauer and Brenda Wilson both cleared 1.4 metres in midget high jump to place seventh and eighth. Action will continue at the Medway Relays this Thurs- day. Regular field events will occur but on the track various relay combinations will be run. As well, the Annual Forest City Prep Meet is at J.W. Little Stadium in London this Saturday. The prestige meet lures athletes from a wide area. Next Monday April 30, Petrolia is hosting an Invitational Meet. The two-day Huron -Perth competition is quickly ap- proaching and is scheduled for May 8 and 9 in Goderich. Colonials The Grand Bend Colonials are off to a Dying start this Lady golfers to get going The Ironwood Ladies Golf Club will open their season Wednesday May 9 with a round of golf and a pot luck supper.
