Re: Heritage Days
The Heritage days Com-
mittee has decided not to hold
the event in 1984.
In order for an occasion of
this' magnitude to be suc-
cessful it must have the en-
thusiastic backing of the en-
tire community. The more
people involved, the more
success of the activity.
The committee felt there
was not enough interest
shown by our community to
guarantee a successful
weekend in 1984. We hope the
community spirit can be re-
kindled this year so the event
can continue in the future.
In this regard the money
that has been raised to date
will be held in a trust account
for at least one year and the
situation will be reviewed at
that time.
In summary the future of
Heritage Days is in the hands
of the community of Exeter.
If citizens are prepared to
come forward and help then
I am sure•it will go in 1985.

Plan .for homecoming
The Exeter Lions Club is
planning to light up the town's
tennis courts, as well as the
community's spirit, with a
Homecoming Weekend,
planned in June.
Club member Doug Ellison
told council Monday night
that the purpose of the
weekend is to encourage
townspeople to invite friends
and relatives back to Exeter
Among the fundraising ac-
tivities planned for the
weekend is a baseball tourna-
ment, Saturday afternoon
movies for the youngsters and
a dance and pub on the Satur-
day night.
The. homecoming, which
will be held June 8, 9 and 10,
could become a regular func-
tion every year to enable the
Lions Club to raise money for
town recreation projects,
Ellison told the council. He
noted that the Hanover Lions
Club now make their
homecoming activities an an-
nual event.
Ellison said the club hopes
to have the lights on the court
up this spring, so that
homecoming visitors can see
where funds from the
weekend activities are going.
He added the Lions Club
hopes to work with the town's
recreation committee on
future projects that funds
could be allotted to.
