Clandeboye fashion show
The Clandeboye Women's
Institute met at the home of
Mrs. Buce Henry for their
March meeting. The program
was prepared by Convener of
Agriculture and Canadian In-
dustry, Mrs. Charles
Coughlin. The roll call was
`Name an Industry in Mid-
dlesex County and give its
location'.
A humorous farm fashion
show was presented by Betty
Coughlin, Velma Hardy,
Marion Hodgson, Gladys and
Hazel Cunningham.
Helga Kress demonstrated
Paper Tole and Quilling. An
invitation was received from
Cloverdale W.I. to attend
their Bi -Centennial Project,
March 28 when they will be
displaying their Tweedsmuir
History booksat the Parkhill
library 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Clandeboye W.I. are plann-
ing a dessert euchre for May
1. Tickets will be distributed
to members to sell during
April.
Don and Doris Wilsorh at-
tended the funeral of their
brother, Jack Wilson, Tues-
day in Blyth.
Eleven tables were in play
at the euchre party at St.
James Church, Tuesday
evening.

Two ladies church groups meet at Dashwood

Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid
met Wednesday afternoon,
March 14 with group 2 and
convener, Mts. Ray Rader in
charge of Devotions and
lunch. President Mrs.
Florence Martene opened the
meeting with a hymn for
Lent, "Go to dark
Gethsemane" Followed by a
reading from Matthew 5 and
prayer.
Pastor M. Mellicke took for
the topic "Christianity vs.
Superstition." The main stop
on Paul's third mission tour
was Ephesus, a great trading
center on the west coast of
Turkey. It was also a center
of magic and superstition.
Magicians practiced spells
and formulas to cast out evil
spirits from people. Paul was
not warmly welcomed. In
time the Gospel triumphed
over superstition.
Mrs. Martene dealt with
the business. Cards of thanks
and donations were received.
The Altar Guild reported 22
visits, five tapes delivered
and two plants. The new Guild
is Mrs. Ray Rader and Mrs.
Florence Martene.
The April meeting will be in
the afternoon and an invita-
tion from Zurich Lutheran
ladies watt aoppepted for the
evening April. 10. The bard
secretary reported five birth-
day and three get well cards
sent. Mrs. Martene read a
poem "Growing Old" and had
closing Devotions followed by
lunch.
Richard Disney, Campbell
River B.C. attended the
funeral of his grandmother,
Mrs. Chris Disney and visited
with his other grandmother,
Mrs. Cindy Kellar.
Stacey Rader spent a few
days with her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scott,
Crediton. -
Saturday evening callers
with Mr. and Mrs. Irvin
Rader were Mrs. Colleen
Higgs, Ailsa Craig and Mr.
and Mrs. Wellwood Gill,
Craigweil Gardens.
Mrs. Harold Main and her
grand daughter, Rebecca
spent the weekend with her
mother, Mrs. Emilie Miller. A
pre -birthday celebration was
held for Mrs. Miller, Sunday,
by members of her family.
There were nide from
Dashwood on the bus trip to
the flower show at Hamilton
March 16. They visited a
shopping mall and a green
house at Dundas. Supper was
had at the Barn in London.

Women met Tuesday, March
13 with the convener of
Church and Society group,
Mrs. Harold Hendrick,
presiding for the program.

was sung followed by prayer.
Mrs. Jessie Rader read the
scripture reading. Rev. Bar-
bara Laing gave chapter five
in the study book "Jesus
means Life".
Mrs. Margaret Carroll gave
the ten principal Command-
ments of Jesus. The closing
prayer was by Mrs. Jim
Weigand. The offering was
taken followed by the song
"The Lord of Dance".
President, Mrs. Don
Gaiser, thanked the commit-
tee for their program. Roll
call ws answered by 11
members. Several cards of
thanks were read. The U.C.W.
anniversary is May 13. The
Sunshine Committee reported
several calls.Thenewcommit-
tee is Mrs. Eben Weigand and
Mrs. Mervyn Tieman. The
Learning for Lent series
which starts this Wednesday
will continue until April 18.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wolfe,
Mark Adam and Stephanie,
Dorchester, were weekend
visitors with Mrs. Aldene
Wolfe.
