With .' -Bob Fletcher and Iry Armstrong of Yid • HOW MUCH ABOUT DEATH CAN A CHILD UNDERSTAND? The young child of three to five usually understands little of death and seems to be disturbed about it for a short time or for short intervals. The child from five to nine may express guilt remembering past feelings and quarrels with the deceased. They will be very much influenc- ed by the way in which adults in the family behave during the death and funeral. The utmost importance to children of any age is that they receive the support of a loving adult to help sort out their feelings, assure them that they ore in no way responsible for the death, and encourage them to share their feelings with you. If you have a question feel free to contact us. Sometimes we can be of help in lightening your load in these intensely personal situations. Greene and Harry DeVries were among the 1,400 delegates represen- ting electric utility commis- sions from across the pro- vince attending the 1984 an- nual meeting of the Ontario Municipal Electric Associa- tion February 27, 28. Addressing the delegates, President Jack Wratten, stated that over the past six years the Association has us- ed $774,000 or one-third of its revenue to represent the municipal utilities and their customers at hearings, primarily before the Ontario Energy Board, but not ex- cluding representations before committees of the Legislature, Royal Commis- sions, Select Committees and most recently, the Con- solidated Hearings Board. Continuing, Mr. Wratten stressed that, "When we make criticisms of Ontario Hydro we must ensure that they are constructive criticisms. It is almost certain that there will be actions and proposals from Ontario Hydro that will not sit well with us. The important thing is that the criticism or objec- tion should recognize the ob- jectives of the program and suggest alternatives." "We must support Ontario Hydro when we can for if the Corporation is seriously im- paired in its ability to function then so are we. It makes no sense to destroy your sup- plier. It makes great sense to improve your supplier's abili- ty to serve you." He conti- nued, "It makes great sense to strengthen and improve and enhance your Association. The Association is the spokesman for more than 320 municipal utilities throughout Ontario. the commissioners and councillors of which were elected to operate a specializ- e municipal service and thus represent more than two million residential, commer- cial and industrial customers served by the municipal distribution system. and who consume two -i hirds of the electric power in Ontario.
